Correct, it was not the first pick alone that has made us back into 1st-tier potential.

Okay, so how about Rocky McIntosh and a new strong safety who is known for big hits? A new MLB, outside LB, and strong safety are all something to consider.
Consider also that we have a DT returning who was injured most of the year, and our young talent at DT is developing.
Finally, look at the rushing stats from preseason. Has any team done jack against our D?
The safties are good, but corners are not, so your secondary is just above average.
You're not in a great position to say this, since our secondary went through somewhat of an overhaul this offseason. Besides, they aren't facing any real challenges in week one, so I'm not worried.
Yeah, I agree, the Skins have improved. But improving from a 5-11 record isn't always a good thing. How do you say I'm in no position when the Skins were even worse than the Fins last year? You act like the Redskins were a playoff team. Well, they picked 6th in the draft last year man.

No, I'm smart enough to realize my team was 6-10 last year. I know no game is easy. You guys, on the other hand, seem to forget that.

I see it as a good thing we open with a sub 500 Dolphin team with many starter issues, including QB. All teams have question marks going into game 1, but one of ours is NOT our defense. I see a long day for Trent Green, and if we just get a "little" offense, that will be more than enough to put the Dolphins away....

The current Patriots are the only AFC team that might be able to hack it in the smash-mouth NFC East. The Fish would be perennial cellar dwellers.

They're a good enough team (good defense, decent running game, possibly some talent at WR) that a win against them is respectable, but they're also flawed enough (aging QB, weak line, new coach) that, if our guys come out focused and ready to go, the game should definitely be a win.
And regarding the NFC East, 3 of the 4 teams in that division made the playoffs last year. What other division can say that? Teams like Seattle and Chicago get to pad their records with a few cupcake games every year, but for the 'skins, every division game is vs. a playoff team. The 'fins would get pounded annually in this division.

I'm feeling a strange urge to offer a personal guarantee that the Redskins will defeat the Dolphins on opening day. It might be close, because this is the Washington Redskins we're talking about, but victory is assured.
