Godfrey will be a great addition....
We've got a thread for Marshall, he will be missed. But Godfrey will be great for the Skins.....I'm certain of that. Let the coaches do their jobs and get us prepared for a Super Bowl run.
So now, let the tomatoes fly.....

After watching Godfrey's media session after today's practice, I have concluded that this is a great move! He said many times that "this team is going in the right direction" and that he would do everything he could to help this team make the playoffs. He said he didn't care if he had to play special teams, he would do it and do it well. he also said that if he wasn't on the field, he would be giving advice to the younger guys. I really like the way he handled himself today in the media session and he seems to be a great guy that will provide depth and leadership to a defense that will need that.

Give me a job after a few years in the business and I will tell you ALL the right and nice things that have become clichés in these Press Conferences.
I am not saying this is a good or bad signing. I am saying that I get NOTHING until I see him on the field and let his game do the REAL talking. I am crossing my fingers that this was a right move at this point in the pre-season.
In any event, Welcome Godfrey. You better do good, you hear me?!

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Future Press Release:
Hmmmmm....
The Washington Redskins report that they have placed recently acquired Linebacker, Randall Godfrey, on the Non-Football Injury list. They are not certain when he will be able to return to the team. According to Assistant Head Coach, Greg Williams, "Randall has had difficulty since shortly after the presser announcing the signing... he bacame aware of some disturbing comments on a popular fan site, and has since been unable to focus. He can't eat, can't sleep, can't study the play book. His concentration is completely shot... just yesterday, I had to pull him out of the offensive huddle... "
According to a Redskins staffer, who declined to be identified, the comments were found on a privately run fan site, called "TheHogs.net" It is believed that the comment of one alleged Canadian member were most disturbing, and may have resulted in Godfrey's disabling condition...
"Redskin in Canada", known to be a negative influence on the board, and a well known rabble rouser, stated "In any event, Welcome Godfrey. You better do good, you hear me?!" It is well known in NFL fan circles, that Godfrey has Evilsmileophobia. There is speculation that "Redskin in Canada" is part of a secret cabel, intent on causing Dan Snyder (known affectionately as "Snidley Whiplash" in the Great White North) to move the Redskins to Ottawa. It is suspected that this is a cynical attempt to cause the collapse of the franchise.
The creator of the fan site, "Boss Hog" had no comment. He claims that it is purely coincidence that he, too, is Canadian.
Hmmmmm....

I was somewhat confused by Marshall's release today although I knew his starting job was far from set in stone and basically Rocky's to lose.
I figured the team would at least keep him for depth and chemistry.
But I can't argue with the addition of Godfrey. He has been underrated for years in my opinion and despite his age, I think he'll bring a lot of positives to this team, especially as a back up.
I liked Marshall and his versatility but I believe Godfrey is a proven upgrade.

Good point. I'm scratching my head a little bit that we let Marshall go to pick up a 34 year old LB who was on the fence about retiring this year.
Guess we just have to trust that Williams knows what he is doing and hopefully some of these guys who were just drafted this year will make an impact in the next year or two.
