Linebacker Marcus Washington hobbled off the field grimacing with a dislocated right elbow. "It was sitting kind of crooked," said Washington, whose starting spot is likely to be taken by Lemar Marshall. Doctors were able to pop the elbow back in place, and the former Pro Bowler expects to miss about two weeks but should be back for the regular season opener Sept. 9.
I'm a little surprised that a dislocated elbow might only result in two weeks out. When I first read that, I was thinking it was goodbye for the season.

I'm still recooperating from a dislocated elbow from 12/05 here. I did have a ton of other problems to go with it...but still...it's not a trivial thing.
Hope he bounces back real soon though!!

That's what I was thinking. Just because it says he might only miss 2 weeks that doesn't mean he is going to be able to play effectively with it. Once you dislocate your elbow, even though he didn't tear any ligaments they were severely stretched out. I'm sure he will have trouble with it the whole year and wear a big brace to hold it in place until he can have surgery in the offseason.

We are walking a thin line with JC. On one hand h has only started a handful of games and really needs all the reps we can give him in a live action format. On the other hand, we are risking his health and our season putting him in harms way with a makeshift offensive line.
its football....people get hurt and there is nothing you can do about it. It we sit here and protect these guys they are going to stink it up when the real season starts. Get him out there and get some reps. Campbell hasn't put us in the end zone yet and until that happens, he plays.
If I had to choose between rushing Marcus back to playing the first two games or sit him out until game #4-#5 to make sure he is fully recovered, I'd just option #2.
Let's not rush him back. Please make sure he's 100% healthy.

Thank you. It looks like we have solid LB depth. No need to take chances. Dislocations ALWAYS mean ligament damage. Elbow dislocations, as with knees, are notoriously bad. That he did not experience catastrophic ligament injury, nor fracture the olecranon process is extremely fortunate. Ligaments take a long time to heal. Easy does it. No need to rush.

I say hold him out until he's ready and not rush 'em. We have depth that can cover down until he's healthy enough (and not rushed) to play.
As for JC, protection needs to be shifted to his blind side. Whatever it takes. His mobility is a non-factor if he can't see it coming. I can't wait for that rookie to get out of there; he's been abused since he was put in. The coaching staff is throwing him AND OUR QB to the wolves without getting that weak blind side some help.

Given how cautious this team has been with injuries thus far, why is there any reason to believe they would act differently with Marcus?
Linebacker Marcus Washington, who suffered a dislocated right elbow late in the first half of Saturday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers at FedEx Field, will miss the Ravens game and perhaps more. He said he hopes to return in about two weeks.
"I've already made some strides since [Saturday] night," said Washington, who left the team's training facility with his right arm in a sling. "If I keep going like that, I'll be all right."
Luckily this year we have depth at the LB position. Washington is a really tough dude....He'll be back before you know it but I don't think we will miss a beat without him.
Strength, though vital, must always be at the servitude of wisdom!

I think that the linebackers will be fine without him as we have very good depth at that position. The problem with his absence is that GW was planning on using him as a pass rusher on 3rd downs and obvious passing situations. Given the inability of our dline to generate pressure on it's own, if this injury keeps Marcus out for any period of time during the regular season or affects his ability to rush the passer then this injury could cause some problems.

I agree. We have depth at linebacker so Marshall could cover for him for a couple weeks. I think Marshall will do better as a strong side LB as opposed to MLB.
