Probably because he understands that these things aren't his business, either.

Very good point for a different day.
Actually, I don't think that it was a good point, which is why I posted it. You are making this into a polarized issue by saying that everyone who doesn't actively go after X unfairness must be condoning or supportive of it.
Some people, myself included, think that this strategy of "doing something about it" isn't the best way to handle social problems. It's chaotic and driven by passion, not justice, which results in far worse problems than the ones anyone was trying to solve originally.
A level-headed case against Vick can be made. Portis, though, is only going to suffer (if he does) because too many people like to tell others what they can and can't do or think, and the fact that he doesn't play along with that attitude made him a target. It's a mistake that I'm sure he won't repeat often, if ever again.

I decided to post here to announce in protest that I am not going to post in this thread anymore.
And anybody that posts after me here will receive curses and condemnations from all the good and evil forces existing in the universe on their way down to eternal damnation.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Nancy Grace is more ready than myself to throw Vick to the wolves. I didn't mean I listened so much to her but the people she had on the show, from both sides.BossHog wrote:I personally use Nancy Grace as a barometer for everything, so I certainly understand. Her level headed, unbiased journalism makes me tune in every night.
What made an impact on me is the different people who are experts on dog fighting who described what happens in full detail. That stuff is sick and disgusting and common sense pretty much points to a good point that Portis was involved in this.
If Portis has info on dog fighting, how is it different from someone having knowledge about where murders take place and not telling? It is an illegal activity that is intensely, cruel, and generally unspeakable.
Portis condoned Vick of doing what he wants, and if he is found guilty, then Portis either needs to make another apology where he flat out apologizes for his earlier comments. His first apology had more of just saying, "Oh sorry my image is hurt. I won't say anything bad again."
Why won't Portis separate himself from those comments? I am very black-white on this issue. That to me proves he condones dog fighting.
Anyways, Boss, everything you have responded to this thread and my comments is sarcasm. Considering you're at this point informed at dog fighting, what do you think of Portis's original comments considering Portis found it humorous?
To the post infront of me, there are other posters on this board who feel this way, but I have zero problem posting my thoughts even though most people take this as a hilarious joke.
Plus, anyone who has seen Chris Samuels's apology, I would appreciate it if you linked it here. Thanks.

I don't get where you think Portis is privy to all this knowledge of dogfighting. In fact, here is a Portis quote:
Just being thrown out into the fire over something that I had nothing to do with. If I'm going to get into trouble it's going to be something I do, it's going to be something that I'm involved in, it ain't going to be for nobody else.
I agree that Portis doesn't seem to really "get" why dogfighting is so cruel, but that's not a Clinton Portis specific problem, and crucifying him hardly seems fair.
Here is my problem with your post - you waited until the grisly execution details came out. The problems with what Portis said haven't changed - why didn't we get this post last week? Shouldn't you have been just as outraged at Portis then?

I'm bored, I'm broke, and I'm back.
Please tell me how on earth that you were able to make the leap of faith that "common sense pretty much points to a good point that Portis was involved in this"?
I sure don't see it that way.
If you want to throw the guy under the bus for saying something really, really stupid - that's your prerogative.
And don't even pretend to know what my feelings are. I am a dog lover and owner and have been all of my life. i think anyone who has been around long enough will even remember how very, very tough it was for me when I put my Rotty down a few years ago.
Suddenly I condone dog fighting because I don't think Portis should be absolutely stapled to the wall for making some real dumb comments months ago?
Your leap of faith, not mine.
If you're so concerned about what my opinion on the matter is, why don't you read the original threads on the topic? I said my piece WHEN IT HAPPENED. And in my opinion, there is nothing new to change anything as it PERTAINS TO CLINTON PORTIS.
I have never once condoned what Clinton said, in fact I was quite vocal about how stupid I thought his comments were, but as I said originally in this thread... I think you're flogging a dead horse. You seem to think that the more grave the actual dog fighting ring is revealed to be, that somehow that it changes Clinton's involvement. I disagree.
I don't see it that way at all... never will. What's said is said and can't be changed - but there's no reason at all to make this out to be more heinous for Clinton. It's not like he's continuing to rant and rave about the merits of dog fighting... it's not like Clinton has somehow now been implicated in the fighting... it's just a dead issue as far as CP goes. (for me it is anyway)
Which is why I said that it was like flogging a dead horse. If you want to take my sarcasm personally, go ahead... won't change anything... won't be the last time either.
... especially when someone's citing Nancy Grace for their reference point. Sorry you're obviously offended, but I won't apologize for having an opinion and expressing it. Man up. No rules were broken, you weren't called a name or sworn at... I don't do sensitivity training, sorry.

Leap one.
If Portis has info on dog fighting, how is it different from someone having knowledge about where murders take place and not telling? It is an illegal activity that is intensely, cruel, and generally unspeakable.
Did you hear the original interview? Portis said that it's ubiquitous where he grew up. If cops want to bust up dog-fighting rings down there that badly, they don't need Portis phoning in all of the locations.
Portis condoned Vick of doing what he wants, and if he is found guilty, then Portis either needs to make another apology where he flat out apologizes for his earlier comments.
Leap two.
Why won't Portis separate himself from those comments? I am very black-white on this issue. That to me proves he condones dog fighting.
If I were Portis I wouldn't separate myself from those comments any more than he has. Also, I don't condone dog fighting.

That's leap three, by the way. I'm out. . .
I at that point was ignorant to the facts of dog fighting. The extent.Steve Spurrier III wrote:The problems with what Portis said haven't changed - why didn't we get this post last week? Shouldn't you have been just as outraged at Portis then?

Come off it, what, did you think they gave the dogs gloves and ring girls massaged them between rounds?

This post is rediculous... i see one of two options
1. We cut you and you are banned from TheHogs.net
2. You apologize to skins nation for even the thought of cutting clinton portis. You submit to random testing of salary cap ramifications of cutting clinton portis. You must then show that you know the difference between a joke and being serious.... first test comes now.. this reply is
A.. A joke
B.. Serious
C. Please let training camp start tommorow so these posts will be flooded out with real football chatter
