Read that before reading this. Then remember the words electrocution, slamming, drowning, choking, etc.jeremyroyce wrote:http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7033242

Michael Vick has been indicted for his role in an alleged dog-fighting operation that authorities say took place at a house owned by Vick, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.
On April 25, a search of the house owned by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback and inhabited by his cousin, Davon Boddie, uncovered drug paraphernalia and 66 dogs in the backyard. A search warrant affidavit said some of the dogs were in individual kennels and about 30 were tethered with "heavy logging-type chains" buried in the ground.
The chains allowed the dogs to get close to each other, but not to have contact, one of myriad findings on the property that suggested a dogfighting operation.
Others included a rape stand, used to hold non-receptive dogs in place for mating; an electric treadmill modified to be used by dogs; a "pry bar" used to open the clamped-down mouths of dogs; and a bloodied piece of carpeting the authorities believe was used in dog fights. Carpeting gives dogs traction in a plywood fighting pit.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
Joe Gibbs is a claimed man of Christian beliefs, won't take alcohol endorsements in NASCAR, will cut guys for DUI's, etc.
If Mike Vick is found guilty, what is the Redskins standing on Clinton Portis and his comment? If I am correct, we already released a statement apologizing, but that is just when this was an accusation on Vick.
If I am correct again, Portis said it was Vick's dogs and he can do what he wants. Does that mean Portis also wouldn't mind if Vick did other illegal things? Would Portis approve of Vick electrocuting, slamming, choking, forced rape, drowning, killing, abusing, and overal physical abuse and murder of "his" mother/father/brother/friends/friends' children? How is it different? All are inhuman, unspeakable actions that are against the law.
If Vick is found guilty, I believe the Redskins and more importantly Joe Gibbs should have only two options. It is not worth winning at the expense of integrity.
1. Cut him like another player who breaks the law such as this and is found guilty. Gibbs is a good man, right?
or
2. Demand Portis immediately apologize and submit to a possible team fine. That along with working with police and sharing all personal information he has on dog fighting that he knows about and location as well as major charity work in things dealing with animals. This would probably not be enough after more info comes out about Vick's disgusting actions.
To those who will spit out these comments...
Free speech!
What would happen if he said he supports any other breaking of law? As a public figure and someone of great influence, he is held above average norms. Which leads to my question, who will protect him...?
The players assosciation will defend him.
This would be a major mistake by the PA and they know it or they're flat out stupid. By protecting his comments about support for Vick in his dog fighting issues, the PA instantly becomes maybe the most hated organization in America. The NFL PA would become the enemy of America's dog owners and all pet organizations. Their positive actions in charity would automatically be slammed for their indirect support of Portis's dog fighting comments. This is a public relations war that no major sports PA could win. You don't touch two things; animals and children. He hit on one.
If this went to court, it could hurt us.
Past forcing us to pay him more money, any person in public office would be BLASTED for saying Portis was completely in his rights, which is likely the case. The judge would be torn apart by the public.
The NFL might levy sanctions.
Public relations disaster. The NFL knows that PETA could admittedly overblow this into something resembling an "NFL doesn't care about pet abuse" scenario which would be terrible. Noone would benefit from this. Every bit of good publicity Goodell has found would be NADA.
Other players might get angry.
Yes, they would. Once again, it is not worth winning at the expense of integrity. If any player came to his defense, he would also be dragged into the Vick situation. No player is that stupid.
How would the Redskins look?
Great. Amazing. Reversal of years of terrible image for Snyder and the Redskins. An organization in pro sports actually willing to stand up for what is right at the expense of a less effective football team? This is something that would be VERY good. Non-fans and haters alike around the country would immediately come to respect and like the Redskins to a degree. Any resistance by the NFL and PA would immediately be met with public outrage.
I completely understand more likely than not, if Vick is found guilty, Portis will get away with this terrible incident and his comments. But I'll promise you this, if Vick if found guilty and the Falcons look away and the NFL does as well, ALL HELL will break loose on the publicity front. This situation is much worse than anything Pac-Man or Chris Henry did. Tank Johnson might have been armed to fight a small war, but he still did nothing.
If anyone on here supports Clinton Portis's comments and says it is no big deal, I want you to think of an innocent animal undergoing this torture. If you still don't care, you are a sick and disgusting human being.
Also, to mods who don't feel this belongs in this forum, please understand the Redskins will come out of this bad somehow or another. As far as the bad publictity not directly correlating to the field, please remember you allowed the "Redskins" name debate on this forum. I do not feel as if I have broken any rules except stating my feeling of any supporter or non-carer of dog fighting being a terrible human being.
Thankyou to anyone who read all this. I just saw a video of dog fighting on CNN and I felt like puking and crying at the same time. I felt the need to share my thoughts.
