who here is tired of hearing about shawne merriman??

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

i for one am tired of hearing about how good and dominant shawne merriman.. everyone talks about his 17 sacks despite not playing 4 games. but they dont say why he was suspended. the dude took steroids for crying out loud. i mean you have to ask yourself how many of his sacks where because of the steroids. And his stats besides sacks were 69 tackles, 4 FF, and 1 int. pretty average numbers. but granted the chargers do use him mostly as a pass rusher. but again. the dude took steroids. from entering the draft to now he has gained 25 pounds. it just bothers me how he gets this credit.

I like Shawn Merriman. He reminds me of a young Lavar Arrington.

I'm a Terps fan, and I've been a Merriman fan since the first time I saw him play. Maybe I'm a cynic, but I assume everyone is on something. Some get caught, some don't, but either way, steroids can help your mucscles heal faster, they can pump up your energy, but they can't give you the skills it takes to record 17 sacks in 12 games, just like it can't give Barry Bonds the skill, patience and timing it takes to hit 751 homers.

I agree, with JF. I think this steroids stuff is overrated and blown out of proportion. Everyone needs something to whine about and this is the new thing.

I bet if Jon Jansen got busted for something, many of you would throw yourselves in front of the bus for him. FIOS!

I live in San Diego and everyone is on his balls all day. He is maybe the most physically dominant player in the game. I hate when people call him a LB though, he is just a stand up DE. He's lost in coverage the 5 times he drops in games. Personally I think, along with alot of others that he's a total weirdo, not sure what but he is just weird +akward
On the eighth day God created Sean Taylor- and he was good.

It might be me, but I was laughing extremely hard when on NFL Total Access they had him and Luis Castillo both on there. I was like, "Darnright they're good, they're both roid rangers."

Also, I think everyone here knows that Ade Jimoh is clean.

He's reason enough to make people support steroid use.

jansenfan you say that it doesnt give him the skill to get 17 sacks in 12 games.. but it gives him the power to literally push away the tight end or tackle or who ever is blocking him. it gives him the edge to push that guy away and get to quarterback. that doesnt take much skill at all.

He's going against professional offensive tackles who every DE in the league tries to push out of the way. Besides, from his time at Maryland and what I've seen of him in the NFL, he relies on speed much more than power.

watch a shawne merriman highlight clip and you'll see he's a finesse rusher, not a power guy. sure he hits super hard and he is a bone-crusher when he gets the chance, but are you telling me that Jeremiah Trotter or ST or John Lynch is on 'roids too just because they can hit harder than other people? I agree with whoever said the thing about Barry Bonds and the 751 (752 now!). The man was a great hitter even before he started pumping HGH and The Cream and the Clear and epitestosterone and all that other crap that I can't spell or pronounce (i'm reading game of shadows right now, great read! pick it up, you won't put it down). Does that make it right? No. Does that mean that they didn't have those skills before or magically gained them by having steroids in their body? No. It just means that they decided that instead of working harder, they would use something that would be the quick fix for performance enhancement. There's a reason that Merriman went in the first round, he's a solid football player. you can bet that the suspension humbled him, and he'll come back next year with a vengeance and no drugs in his body. I for one am not sick of hearing about the guy, becuase he's a manimal on the field and I wish he played for the skins.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.
