1) Why would it be "weird" in 2007 for a player to have a Website?
2) You should check out the THN Brandon Lloyd Podcast section to hear the exclusive interviews he gives to THN.

I can't wait to see what he does with the article he's asked us to allow him to write each week ON TOP of the weekly podcast.
Lloyd likes theHogs.net because we don't have a hidden agenda. We talked about all the hot button topics last year. We just did it in a manner in which he felt comfortable talking about those things rather than feeling threatened or challenged. I don't have a problem with WHAT most reporters ask, I have a problem with HOW they ask their questions. They ask in a way that will illicit a reaction because drama sells papers.[/rant]

Thanks to ESPN, sports media has become a hype machine, a culture of frustrated old men who value controversy and reaction over substance and analysis. ESPN stopped treating sports as sports and began approaching it like Hollywood, thus we get those ridiculous "Who's Now" segments and whatever other totally insubstantial garbage those hacks vomit up. You have guys like Skip Bayless and Woody Paige who have only a modicum of talent and have nothing that is legitimately interesting or unique to say so they stake out almost impossibly idiotic standpoints to make themselves noticed. And that's the ultimate flaw of modern sports, reporters want to be the story.
Independent sites and blogs are the last refuge of the thinking sports fan, and I, for one, hope Lloyd is the first in a long line of athletes to recognize that.
RIP Sean Taylor

I think it is pretty cool that Lloyd gives props to thehogs.net. As being part of this online community, I like the fact that he recognizes the "true" voices of the fans. It shows that he wants to reach out to us Redskins fans and appreciate all that we do to support our team. To possibly have a member of the Redskins reading my post and seeing my concern or praise as to what is happening with the team makes expressing my opinion even better.

I dunno. It reminds me of an actors website. I know when you look at up and coming actors sites. Its always for self promotion and so if any directors wants to check them out. Its like a resume online. Don't get me wrong, Im not trying to say its bad or anything is wrong with it, Just I didn't expect it from a player. I really wouldn't expect it now close to preseason, maybe two months ago. I figure his mind would be on the season and on the team. Not publicty. Or what ever.
Its cool though. Its cool he give props to THN. I don't want to say anything to piss him off in here, especially because I really don't mean anything bad by it.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

I figure Lloyd had that site made for him... Unless he is able to "mind meld" (trekkies) with whomever constructed the site, then I doubt that he lost any of his focus.

Just for clarity's sake, he hires a company to do the web site, and his PR person helps with the direction with a bit of input from Brandon. Also, they've been working on it since April or so.

In Lloyd's defense, that whole helmet toss incident was WAY overblown. First, my understanding was he did it on the sidelines, and not the field, where it would have been a huge penalty. That shows he still had some restraint and self-control at the time, even if he was frustrated. Second, it was ONE incident, not part of a T.O.-like pattern of misbehavior/acting out. Gibbs talked to him, and that was it - I've heard no other reports of outbursts from him. Finally, the team was doing poorly, and I'm personally glad he had enough heart and passion in the game to be frustrated with last year's performance. Would you rather have a player upset with losing, or one who didn't care, just joking on the sidelines, happy to know he was getting paid so the results didn't matter?
I think You getting me wrong on that one brother.
I agree with you 100%. I said I heard that from other people but I don't see it. I heard people saying he was temperamental before we signed him.
I haven't seen anything except that helmet incident and I think that was harmless.
I guess Im asking... Why do people say that???
Were there issues before he came here or something?

Y?? Because I said "other people said he had a temper but I don't see it"??
I accually liked to see that. At that point in the year and we hadn't done much, I wasn't sure he did care untill that happened. I was glad to see it.

I was there, and he did throw the helmet and it was on the field and it did get a 15 yarder. That being said, I asked him about it on the show that week (after Bram grilled him mercilessly for 2 hours about it) and he basically said that he was coming to a team that was two games away from the Super Bowl and at that moment, he realized that same team wasn't even going to make the playoffs and he lost his temper. He also said he got defensive with the media because of the question techniques I talked about previously and that is why the media was able to blow it so far out of proportion.
As for why people say it, here's my theory on the subject.
BLloyd played receiver in SF with TO. The media there lovedem some TO and when he left, here's this young, emotional player that wants to cut a rap album, and, with the media so used to having their whipping boy, just inserted Lloyd into the available slot. When he came here, thinking he'd get a new start, all the media here started reading the stories and talking to the reporters and waiting for something (like the helmet toss) to pounce on.
Just a theory.

Not at all.

Hell no. In fact, exactly the opposite if you knew the background. But I will let others in a better position than me explain this to you.
I take advantage of this opportunity to congratulate Mark and Scott on this well-deserved achievement!!!
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

LOL, it's apparent that you're going to be let down on both accounts.
Why is that?
1. I don't think we're going to the superbowl this year.
2. The extent of focus that he seemed to have wanted was unreasonable IMO. Even if Brandon made that site on his OWN time, how is that going to detract from his on field play?
I doubt he believe HTML > singleback formation.
