Post by tribeofjudah »

I read or heard someone saying that Santana Moss is just a Steve Smith wannabe.... Don't be Hatin' on MOSS....

Here are similarities but we all know Moss is better.....

MOSS #89, DOB 1979, 5'10", 190 lbs
TD 34
YRDS 4689
REC. 290
40+ yards, 26
1st downs, 202

SMITH #89, DOB 1979, 5'9", 185 lbs
TD 30
YRDS 4925
REC. 344
40+ yeards, 19
1st downs, 214

He's no WANNABE....... He's Santana Moss!!!! GO SKINS......

and steve smith has one less year than moss (only played one game in 2004 because of injury) with a total of 4 less games

I hate the haters also. I was talking to a non-skins fan the other day and they said, Cooley used to be good but he droped off the last couple of years haveing his worst season last year. Boy, he opened a can of worms saying that to me!!!!! You know I had to tell some stats saying he had his best year last year. He should have went pro-bowl. We know what Moss can do. I just hope we prove it this year. What I'm hoping for is instead of one or two guys having good years we need everyone to have a good year. CP, JC, Wade, Moss, El, Lloyd, LFB, Taylor, Landry, Springs, Rodgers, Carter, etc....... so, the team as a "unit" can have a good year.

A lot of people will be changing their minds after this season.

Aug 5th people!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!

I thought Cooley was sub-par last year too, at least at first, that make me a hater?

The guy was so busy trying to be a rock star that he forgot to play football at the beginning of the season. That's an observation, not hate - he's one of my favorite Redskins. He definitely came around, but it was a rough beginning to 2007 for CC.

And I guess it's lucky for you that your friend didn't know the actual stats when you were feeding him that line. Because Cooley had more catches, more yards, AND more touchdowns the year before last. So you could just as easily make the over-generalized statement that Cooley dropped in every category last year. (Not really, but that's what happens when you speak only in hyperbole. He actually had his best yards per catch total, and doubled his 20+ yard gain totals.)

Think the 'haters' like the 'homers' any better?

Besides... that's what being a fan is all about isn't it? Whether you're a homer, a hater, or both, you earnestly and FANatically support your team.

As for the Smith vs. Moss comparison... I don't know if either one is 'better' than the other. I think of Steve Smith as week in and week out, one of the game's very, very best. If Santana is worth mentioning in the same breath, then we're alright.

Their numbers are very similar, and to call Moss a wannabe is a joke, but see the previously mentioned haters/homers comment. :D

Maybe I should have clarified that a little more. My friend(a colts fan) happened to watch one game last year and that one game he had like 4 or 5 droped passes and a couple of them when we really needed them. And because of that I've had to listen to "Cooley sucks" every sense. Same person also saw a game last year and it was a game that Cooley was doing really good. Thats why they said he droped off.

I really don't know stats. Mostly cause Im lazy. But I didn't know that made me a homer, saying that someone who was the third alternate to the pro bowl should have been in the pro bowl. I thought I was a homer if I had said like "B Lloyd should have been in the pro bowl" Or like the Fin fan saying "everyone was saying they were going to be in the SB"

But hey I deff speak in hyperbole!! I ususally go by what iv heard on here. I remember a thread about underrated and a thread about Cooley should be in the probowl. Im way to lazy usually to look up the stats.

 well said BH

I have been a little distracted recently but have noticed a couple of reality checks from the boss man - off-season a little long this year?

I am so looking forward to this year as I have a feeling we will be a better team and with a little better team play I think we will have a much better W/L record.

As far as our receivers go we really never saw them all on the same page and I'm kind of looking for much better play from ARE and Lloyd especially.

Moss is one of the better WRs in the game and to be compared with Smith is not a slight at all - he also will benefit from more work with Campbell but I think our offense overall is going to be a lot better because of Portis and Betts.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Smith has had a decent QB throwing him the ball the last few years. Moss has had an unsettled QB situation at best. In 2005, when Brunell could actually throw the ball longer than 15yds, Moss could out run a corner to the deep ball. Even when they were throwing all of those screen passes, Moss is electric when he has the ball in his hands. The key thing to Moss having success is to get the ball into his hands. If he can get it in space, the % of him getting a big play or touchdown sky rockets. I believe with Campbell at the helm this year, there is no reason he shouldn't have 1,200+ yards receiving and 10+ touchdowns.

yes, I am a homer :o

So basically you're saying that there's not really any reason to read anything you write because you got it from someone else on here anyway, and you're too lazy to do something wasteful and senseless like check your facts.

Ok got it. :D

Naaah. It seems I'm getting flack for it though... geepers.

All I did was take the time to put some thought into a couple of posts, instead of just spouting off.

The place could use that kind of principle across the board most days.

Steve Smith is outstanding. So is Moss. Whether he is better or not, does not mean much. They are both good players. Smith has also played on a better team the past couple years. He also is the main reciever on his team.

Once Jason Campbell comes around we will see all the Skins recievers stats start to rise. Whoever said Moss is a Steve Smith wannabe must have been a Cowgirls fan. Players are being criticized all the time. Especially how our team did last year. So the Skins have always heard the smack talking whether it has been about Moss, the Defense, coach Gibbs. The smack comes with the territory you are Skins fan get used to it. Until they start winning the smack will keep coming and so will the haters. Fasten your seatbelt and just put your Skins jersey on , stock up your beers and potatoe chips, your dip and get ready for some football.
