Colin Cowherd...

Post by JansenFan »

Called the Washington Redskins the worst team in the league, in response to a Street & Smith's ranking of the NFC - East with the Skins in third over the Giants.

Everything you need to know about that windbag can be found in this reply from one of his colleagues at ESPN, Bill Simmons:

And if that wasn't bad enough, Cowherd embarrassed himself by not understanding basic NBA trading principles like "it would be valuable for L.A. to swap Vlad Radmanovic's contract for Bobby Sura's expiring contract in a T-Mac/Kobe deal because Sura's contract expires in 2008, which would buy them some cap space down the road."

Look, I know the radio business lends itself to hosts lazily skimming other people's columns and blogs ... but seriously, Colin, in the words of Mark Jackson, you're better than that. Your show's on for three hours a day and you get four giant commercial breaks per hour. That leaves you plenty of time to research your segments so you don't come off as misinformed. No offense.

For those of you not familiar with ESPN, this type of internal bickering on a public platform is STRONGLY discouraged. That they allowed Simmons to write that speaks volumes about him, especially from a network that so often values hype over all. The man had to be chastised by his own network for encouraging his listeners to shut down a site and for stealing material.

He's an arrogant hack and his opinion isn't worth what I flushed down the toilet this morning.

That's just stupid from an objective, factual standpoint. First, we did not have the worst record in the league last year, even at 5-11. Second, we beat two playoff teams (Saints and Dallas) while undergoing a QB change. Third, of the other three teams we beat, only one (Houston) had a losing record. Obviously, there's some talent on the 'skins, even from a non-Redskins-fan's perspective. No intelligent, neutral football fan thinks the 'skins were the worst team in the league last year (as objectively demonstrated by the record), or likely will be the worst team in the league this year. CC is just an idiot or a hater, but probably both.

So is he an Oakland fan? Or, how else did we get below them on his "worst" scale? I can think of a couple of other teams as well. That's not to say that we weren't pretty bad last year, but last? :|

Well, he's crazy but I think that for anyone to even be able to say this shows that as an organization a lot more work needs to be done. 2007 is a big step in the right direction, hopefully a consistent one.

Hopefully over the next few years such a thread will be committed to complaining that we've been snubbed for not being mentioned in the top 3, instead of the bottom 3. :)

This post while mildly true was mostly written to encourage a nice 20 page long thread. It's the off season and we need food to feed the children.

Yeah that would NEVER happen...
I also had to read it twice, but sure enough it was there.

I acutally listen to the herd everyday, and i acutally like the show a lot. The problem, is that he is obviously a skins hater. But really who in the national media isnt? Rome has bagged on the skins for years, collin cowherd obvioulsy hates them and snyder, all the writers (doc z, pete king, pete prickso etc..) hate the skins. So really I just ignore it. I realize that people hate this team. weather thats becuase of bad play, bad personal moves, or a personal vendetta against the owner i have no idea. Water off a ducks back to me though. This has been stated before but the ONLY way to ever gain any respect is to WIN consistanly. If we had of had a good season last year after the playoff run then mabye we'd be getting a little love, but alas we laid a big fat egg last year.

Considering the source, it's laughable. His is the only sports talk radio show I absolutely cannot listen to. I turn it on for 5 minutes, get incensed over some idiotic comment he makes, and turn it right back off. There is zero value in whatever he says.

I listen to him every morning. I like it. Whats tough to hear is when anyone says that we are the worst. Thats just a poor use of words. I think we are the most under achieving teams in the league. You have to admit that. And I don't want to hear how we went to the playoffs two years ago. We still stunk.

reguardless of his views on the topic, I still think he is one of the best talk radio dj's... his facts are probably not always accurate, but he is incredibly entertaining and i believe thats all ESPN asks of him... as do I...
