Break Out Year

Post by Justice Hog »

Looking at our roster, we have a few new guys, a few guys who have been around for a bit. Here's the question I pose to all of you. Who do you think will have a "break out year" this year. Who is the one guy that you think will draw a lot of attention, out-performing a lot of his teammates?

Lloyd - I picked him because I don't think rookies can have a break out year. Breaking out assumes that you've already been "in", which they haven't...

Lloyd will step up.

Mark Brunell. He's due in this new offense, and his track record as a Skin says he will have a great second season after learning the new offense.

Just kidding. Defense: Ade Jimoh. Offense: Chris Cooley Special Teams: Suisham

No receiver can have a "break out" year if Jason Campbell does not have one first.

Jason Campbell for "break out" year.
LaRon Landry for rookie of the year.

Overall Redskins performance:

Top 10 pass offense
Top 8 run offense

Top 10 pass defense
Top 16 run defense
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Campbell will have a breakout year. He has been in the league coming up on his third year. He is in the same system for a second straight year and has a lot of weapons to help him out. I think the time and effort that he has put in the offseason and the confidence his team has in him will take him far. He is the Joe Gibbs of the quarterback position as in guys want to go out and play their guts out for him.

Yeah probably Campbell, but I picked Rocky McIntosh. Nobody really stood out among the LBs last season. I wouldn't be surprised to see a young guy like McIntosh break out in GW's scheme this year.

I'd like to see Al Saunders have a breakout year in 07. :)

I'm going with other and going to go with Carlos Rogers. I think after playing for 2 years now and working with DB in the offseason. He will blossom. Also, have Smooty back there to work with him too will only help not to mention push him.

I'm going with Cerrato, the man does not take care of his skin and he seems to avoid the sun at all costs.

I go with Lloyd. Good point that he cannot have a great year if Campbell doesn't but Lloyd really did not do anything last year and played the entire season. With Campbell and Lloyd going to the QB challenge together, I think they will have chemistry that they need. Campbell will work out with Moss also but Moss is a stud already so I have to pick Lloyd.

RiC,
Are you talkin rookie of the year for the NFL for Landry or just the Skins?

Because if you mean just the Skins,... well, dah! He is like the only rookie for the Skins.

Jason Campbell will be the break out, but I picked El. Beacuse I believe Lloyde is still going to be a non-factor, Santana will have a record type year (but hey that is what elite WR should do!), but El is going to have by far and away his best year in the NFL.

There is no such title as a Redskins rookie of the year to my knowledge.

I picked other because I can't just pic one.

I think JC will have his break out year this year, but it will go hand and hand with other members of the offence. EL, Lloyd, Sellers will all benifet.

McIntosh.

I have a feeling as a blitzer, he'll help our pass rush.

On defense, I'm thinking Linebacker here and I think you'll see Lemar Marshall who will find himself back to his natural outside position. I don't think McIntosh will start yet but may play if Marcus Washington doesn't recover or gets reinjured.

On offense, you gotta hope that the hype about Campbell comes true, but I think the safer bet would be for a WR. I'll go with Randal El who I think was not used enough last year. When he was used, the results were devastating on the opponents. That will change this year. Like Moss, Randal El is a big play guy.

I'm going with a RB because Saunders likes a back to be the featured player. Problem is....Portis will need to have a monster year for it to be considered a breakout season because of the numbers he's put up in the past. I still think he could have a huge season if he is healthy and runs hard and "breakout" (1,600 Yards, 15 TDs).

theres no way he gets 1600 yards with the emergence of Ladell Betts!

i say he (portis) gets something like 1250 while betts gets somewhere near 700

I wanted to pick a RB but i think its going to be much more rb by committee than people think. Campbell should put up decent numbers but he doesn't have much to work with compared to a lot of teams.

i have to say sean taylor.. even tho he made the pro bowl last. he was still only made it because dawkins withdrew from it. and he just made some big plays every now and then. but he did get beat on a couple of occasions.. with landry playing close to the line, taylor can be a ballhawking safety like he was at Miami.. i expect to him to produce way more turn overs this year and be a candidate for defensive player of the year because i believe he is that good

I agree with this. I believe Campbell will open a lot of eyes this year and I've heard more than one person on TV predict that Landry could be the rookie of the year. Nice choices, RiC!
