I think there should be a lot of competition at our TE position because our number 1 TE, Chris Cooley, who we all like very much, is in his last year of his contract. Man, I dont want to panic yet, but I am sure Snyder, Cerrato, and Gibbs have already tried to extend his contract, but because we have not heard anything, it probably means that he does not want to extend it and rather go somewhere else. I really hope we can work something out with him so that he stays here, he is a heck of a tight end and if he goes, that positions is to hard to fill.......Does anybody know anything about contract talks with him ?

Not resigning Cooley is simply inexcusable.

That's exactly right. I think Gibbs personally hand-picked Cooley and Gibbs will do everything in his power to make sure Cooley gets a new contract, at all cost, IMO. If there's anyone on the current roster that deserves it, it's Cooley. He IS a core Redskin and the FO knows it.

I'm sure Cooley just wants to see what kind of numbers he puts up this year to strengthen his bargaining position for a bigger contract. I don't get the impression that Cooley is unhappy at all, just the opposite. He does enjoy the West and would probably eventually want to gravitate out there.

He'd be a tough loss. He is a great lockeroom kind of guys. Keeps things loose. With the crazy money out there in free agency nowadays, you can't count on anyone staying for long.

 Umm, you know we're the Redskins right? We're the ones throwing out the "crazy money". Again, there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to keep this dude.

I would be shocked to see Cooley leave... he came here as a nobody out of Utah State.. and the fans embraced him and the team made him a major part of the offense.. he is easily one of the most popular Redskins if not the most popular.. In meeting him a couple of times and in seeing how often he participates in team events such as signings and draft day partys and beach blitzes it would really suprise me to find out hes unhappy here.. I think he knows how lucky he is to have come to this team and found his nitch

What are you talking about dude.

You can tell Cooley loves it here, and everyone loves him back.

And if he does leave, I doubt he'll have the success he has here, I mean this system is perfect for him.

I'm pretty confident Cooley will be a Skin next year.

I think I would cry if we lost Cooley and Taylor in the same year.

I'd shrug and ask myself if I was truly surprised we'd do something like that.

Assuming there isn't a Lavar-type falling out between now and then, I'd honestly be shocked

Don't waste your breathe talking about it, Cooley ain't goin' nowhere.

Even Snyder mentioned him by name in the presser before the draft. I think they know how valuable he is. I'd even say that Cooley is one of the few that has a chance to be a Redskin for life, and he's got my vote.

Wait Cooley and Sean Taylor are FA's next year? Well you gotta keep'em but Cooley is probably gonna want 50 mil and so will taylor, you can't satisfy them both right? Of course we are the Redskins.

This has turned into a panic thread...Neither are going anywhere...we all know that. But these new TE's sound pretty interesting,

1- 6'8? are you kidding me
1- Mormom Wolverine?
1- DivIII stud from Wisconsin with a Doug Williams jersey on as a kid...

This should to be fun..
