And the Panthers valued that so much they found a younger guy and cut him. Of course he also played 11 games against teams with pass defenses ranked 16th or worse including 6 games against teams ranked 25th or worse (he had a 6 catch, 38 yard, no TD effort against Washington, ranked 24th) ... but I am sure that's all been taken into account.
RIP Sean Taylor
Yeah, I like the idea of adding a bigger possession receiving target. but Keyshawn is old, slow and not adept at catching TD passes. Catching TD passes would be the main reason for adding a big guy like that, so i say NO, he would not benefit out offense enough for the money it would cost.
Build through the draft!

No need to bring in someone to learn that 8 million page play book when we have people on the team that know it and can simply change postions.
Is still our best option

so what your saying is go ahead and sign a player who has been known to disrupt locker rooms.. thats 35 and slow.. will demand a decent salary.. and last one year for us.. definetly not allowing us to see if Llyod or ARE can get it done. we arent a reciever away from the superbowl.. would easily go down with the dumbest signings in team history .. right next to Archuleta and Prime Time

Keyshawn is slower... but he is still not slow...he caught 70 passes last year and 4 touchdowns....that is more than all of our wide recievers combined with the exception of moss
More importantly he moved the chains 65 times in the past two years, this is actually still very impressive and I think if he signs for the league min. for a veteran we should be in the talks.
its not a need to do thing but being in talks with him would not hurt
Well, then I suppose I know nothing

making moves like that is why we are sitting where we are right now.. the FO made it clear last year we arent going after old FA's .. the only exception to that in the last 2 years has been Fletcher but we needed a field general who knows GW's D.. MEshawn is 35.. we dont need him.. even for the league min. all he would do is impeed Lloyd and ARE..
I DO NOT WANT TO SEE A #19 RUNNING ROUTES FOR US NEXT YEAR

What im saying is go back in time, don't pay ridiculous money for two useless receivers, than use the leftover money to sign a D-end and give keyshawn, who catches balls, a shot.

call them useless after this year.. when the whole team has been in Saunders offense for 2 years.. with a stable QB.. and a healthy running game then if they dont do anything OK.. but im not writing anyone off until then.. and please tell me the point of giving him a shot? why would we want him? cause he caught 70 balls? hes a possesion reciever? did you see some of the touchdowns he dropped ? hes 35 slow and not worth the roster spot ..making moves like that has gotten us where we are now.. we need youth

During last season's game vs. Philly, Carolina was near the endzone and called one of Johnson's favorite plays - a fade to the corner of the endzone. However, Eagles CB Lito Sheppard got in Keyshawn's way, so he didn't finish the route, and allowed Sheppard to intercept Delhomme's pass. Afterward, when Delhomme was catching heat for tossing a pick in the endzone, Keyshawn did not come to the defense of his QB, letting Delhomme take the blame for an INT that was really Keyshawn's fault.
We don't need that kind of player on our team.
Thanks for this. I think it is pretty obvious that "Key" was never a team player and, in my opinion, even in his prime he was overrated. I didn't notice him backing up his words very often.
Although we could use the talents of a physical specimen like Key and his experience, I doubt we can afford his antics on the sidelines and on the field. Not a "core Redskins" guy, as Joe would put it. Let's look elsewhere for a red zone receiver or develop what we have. PLEASE!

Product of the post draft off-season and teams making moves, just wait until next month

A possession receiver has to go and out-jump someone for the ball? How does that make any sense? Wouldn't a big play receiver be the one who fights for the deep passes and out-jumps someone? Wow, I'm glad I know nothing about football.
If your selling point for Keyshawn is "he's still not that slow" and that "he's tall," I guess it's no wonder that so many other Redskins fans on this board don't want him as well. They don't need Keyshawn, and just because YOU want the Redskins to get him doesn't mean I or anyone else here don't know anything about football.
How about everytime a player is a free agent or gets cut by his team, people just take a step back and realize that MAYBE it just might be ok if the Redskins don't sign him.

A possession receiver- is historically a slot receiver with above average football height with steady hands who drops less balls...he is a dependable target who you go to on third downs and in the red zone because he is able to use his body to sercure the ball....this is what you would like to call the out route and jump ball...you see if you have a taller guy or a possession guy he jumps over small guys or defensive backs...big play recievers are either guys who can show double moves, blazing speed, an ability to break tackles in the open field or a combinatin....
cooley cant jump...he doesnt use his body well to catch balls and actually he drops a lot of them....
posession recievers are used to pick up first downs and move the chains. by using good size and sure hands go ahead and watch a football game....
