Dolphins waive Wright, Vick, and Iwuchukwu

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Dolphins waive Wright, Vick, and Iwuchukwu

The Dolphins waived defensive tackle Manny Wright, wide receiver Marcus Vick and linebacker Bobby Iwuchukwu on Tuesday.

Wright, who missed all of last season on the reserve/nonfootball injury list dealing with depression, was taken by the Dolphins in the fifth-round of the 2005 supplemental draft. He played in three games in his rookie season and recorded four tackles and a sack.

New coach Cam Cameron had called Wright to encourage him to come to last month's minicamp, but Wright reported to minicamp overweight. Wright famously walked off the field in tears after getting chewed out by then-coach Nick Saban during a 2005 training camp practice.

Vick split his rookie season of 2006 on the practice squad and 53-man roster after having signed with the team as an undrafted college free agent. He played in one game. The younger brother of Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is being sued by a teenager who says they had a two-year affair while Vick was at Virginia Tech.

Iwuchukwu was signed by the Dolphins this offseason after splitting his rookie season on the practice squads of San Francisco and Baltimore.

Vick and Keyshawn are headed to New England, aren't they? :)
Dolphins are cleaning house...and I expect the QB situation will be much clearer in two weeks time.

I say the Redskins should take a chance on Marcus Vick. I mean it's not like the guy's done anything wrong.

Players cry all the time in training camps. We just don't hear about it, for obvious reasons.

He is suffering from Depression and thats something that really isn't something to joke about. You or I don't understand what its like but if you have known someone who is really affected, it takes a toll on your life. I hope the best for him and he needs to get with a good doctor to help him work on this. He is a hell of a talented player and its too bad that this is a waste of talent because of his condition.

The dolphins made a mistake w/ Vick. He is a much better QB than his overpaid, overrated, dog fighting brother and as it looks now, he's no more trouble than Michael. He is also a better QB than Culpepper

Why don't we sign Vick and try him out at defensive end?

As a VT alum and someone who has dealt with depression through my family I just can't write it off that way.

The guy is classless. Like throwing the ball in opponents faces, stepping on opponent's (lying on the ground) legs, flipping the bird to fans, driving drunk and w/o a license and giving booze to underage girls. He has a problem, depression excuses attitudes, but not that and making those kinds of excuses for anyone is productive for no one, including Marcus Vick.

Strike that. ESPECIALLY Marcus Vick.

Kaz, he was talking about Wright, not Vick. Wright is battling chronic major depression.

Beyond that, you are dead on... Vick is just a thug.

I see now, and I agree with frankcal's position on Wright. And we agree on Vick, Wright's issue is emotion, not wrongdoing like Vick.
