Packaging the LBs for a trade...
Why would the Skins draft two LBs that probably won't make the team?
In my own guesstimation, I feel like the Skins might package them in a trade to the Bears for Briggs. They wanted McIntosh, so may be the ones we drafted this year will be to their liking.
What do you all think?

They could have been drafted just to see if they can make the team

or
They could have been drafted because they might fit in certain packages that the team will be using this year
or they were just looking for one of the two to make the team and add depth.
Would i trade them both for Briggs? Of course. Will it even come up? Doubt it.

why do you think the LBs wont make the team? because there are4 starting LBs on the team as of now? Well we are one LBs short of where we were last year during the season...which means almost without a doubt one of the two is believed to be on the team and playing special teams...these guys are not bait for Briggs...We want Linebackers because Marcus is going to be blitzed more often and work out of a three point stance, like a DE. This means we will need one more linebacker than we had last year...this means the Skins are probally hoping that they both make the team and play on specials and get ready to be starters while sitting at backups

I am not a pro-Briggs guy, far from it. So, I do not think this trade can or should happen.
But I feel that Blades can become a REALLY GOODSpecial Team player sooner than you give him credit for.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Sartz said himself he knows he's gonna be a fixture on special teams and he's okay with that. Blades looks like a London Fletcher clone. So I have to say, at least on the surface that drafting these guys as LB depth makes sense. This is how you find the Antonio Pierce's of the NFL. You draft guys that fit your scheme and see if they step up to the plate. The only pick I'm not too excited about is Jordan Palmer. Would rather have seen a OG or OT drafted. As far as QB's go, would rather seen us draft Chris Leak, who is avalable as a UFA. Palmer sounds like an eventual World League player and clipboard carrier but we'll see.

We lost two LBs this season (Holdman and Posey), have signed one (Fletcher) and have two with injury questions (Washington and McIntosh). Yet somehow Joe Gibbs is going to draft two LBs who won't make the team?
Okay...!
Okay...!

I can pretty much guarantee you they both make the team. For one we are short on LB's. These are not only solid players, they come from top notch programs in top notch conferences.
Blades was a 3 year starter, 2 year captain, a 2 time all-American and the Big East D player of the year last season. Not to mention a semi-finalist for the Bednarik and Butkus awards.
Sartz is a big, versatile player who probably dropped due to a shoulder injury in his Sr. season. He applied for a medical hardship and was granted an additional year of eligibility.
Like Blades, he was a 3 year starter for a great program.
Honorable mention All-Pac 10.
I dont think we are stalking up LB's to prepare for a trade. I really like the LB's we picked, they are a little undersized, but they are not going to start this year anyway. I believe all we are doing is adding dept and hoping that at least one of them steps up and becames a true NFL LB, I think both of them have a good chance making the team, they are very talented. It is just like Mchintosh, he was a little undersized last year, but with a year under his belt and assuming he shows up bigger at camp, he should be ready to go, not as a starter because we already have three starters, but just in case somebody justs injured, he will be the next in line. Holman and Posey are gone so we don;t have anybody else. I feel confident in his ability and alsoI think he is a very agressive LB and I like his attitude when playing the run.

I don't think there's any guarantee that either of them will make the team, given the Redskins' recent success rate with late round linebackers. BUT, they were certainly drafted in the hope/expectation that they'd make the roster, and they certainly aren't trade bait for Briggs or anybody else.
I really hope these guys work out - young, cheap depth is one of the things we lack everywhere. Given Williams' defensive schemes, they will have every chance to contribute if they make it out of preseason.
