This is the week to do it - let's get Johnson! - We could trade the 6 pick plus Campbell to the Raiders - take Johnson and let Brunell (Gibbs real favorite!) have the option of 2 great backs and 2 great WRs - this is brilliant - Oh! the defense? - we don't need any players on defense! The guys we have now will be fine! Just tell Williams to "coach 'em up" - if he can't do it we don't need him either - brilliant!

I wouldn't take CJ at #6 let alone trading up to #2! Even if he end up being as good as Larry Fitzgerald (I doubt he will - these "experts" are almost never right about WRs) he won't help us as much as Moving down and taking a DE or DT or even a safety or corner. How many games have the Cards won with Boldin (2nd rounder) and Fitzgerald? How much did the "can't miss" Brayland Edwards help the Browns or Mike Williams, Roggers, Roy Williams help the Lions. Only an idiot wastes a top 10 pick on a WR (yes, Im' talking to you Mr. Millen).
Reggie Wayne would just be another OK WR without Peyton and Marvin and he was a late first rounder.
I challenge anyone to name a 1st round WR that has been an impact player his first year and continued to contribute for at least five years. Give me one in the last two decades!

How bout them Vikings? they had Carter AND Moss - fat lot of good that did! Owens is regarded as the best, and, just how many rings does that guy have with some pretty good QBs?

BTW - I think the Edwards that is a WR is Braylon? Maybe this "Brayland" guy is even better? Is the WR Roggers even playing anymore?

Let me say something about this nonsense regarding receivers being a bad 1st round choice:

2005 Probowl receivers: 4 of the 8 were 1st round picks (Marvin Harrison, Larry Fitzgerald, Torry Holt, Santana Moss), 4 out of 8.

The only positions that accounted for more probowlers was OT (6 of 6 were 1st round picks) and RB (5 of 6)

Now lets compare that to DE. Only 2 out of 6 DE's were first rounders, and DT (3 of 6)

This would seem to dispell the idea that DE's are more of a sure thing than receivers.

People say that WR only get 6, 8, maybe 10 touches per game, so their impact on the field does not justify a 1st round pick. Bull. Tell that to San Fran and Jerry Rice, or the Rams and Holt.

From what I can see, picking offense in the 1st (QB's, RB's, WR's and OT's) are every bit as good of a bet as picking a d-lineman in the first round.

Additionally, just speaking about the Redskins here, name me one player that had more of an impact on the field in 2005 than Santana Moss? Do you think we would have made the playoffs without Santana? I don't think so.

Last year, Santana was doubled and trippled, limiting his production. With a Calvin Johnson lining up on the other side, defenses just won't be able to do that .

If I were GM, I wouldn't hesitate to trade up to pick CJ. Trade our 1 pick, plus #1 2008 to Detroit for their #1 and either #2 or #3 this year where we could still get a good value defensive pick.

But that won't be the trade. It'd be our 1st this year AND next year, for the 2nd pick in the draft.

Remember, this year's 2nd round pick is equivalent to a 1st rounder next year in value.

Rice wouldn't have made a difference on the Skins in the mid 90s. The team still would have been bad! And Holt's Rams are bad (Steven Jackson, not Holt killed the Skins last year - It sure would have been nice to have someone that could have helped keep him under 200 yards)

CP made more of a difference. Boonell actually playing like an NFL QB made a difference and the defense made a difference. I would agree that he was a large part of the success, but I still think we would have made it without him.

So now you want Detroit to move down for nothing! If they give us their 2nd rounder this year that equates out to a 08 1st round pick, so we would have went from #6 to #2 for essentially nothing. Yeah, I would do that and then trade down to #8 - #12 and pick up another 2nd, but I would in no way use TWO FIRST ROUND PICKS on a WR. That is just ludicrous![/quote]

We have Moss and El...then it gets sketchy with lloyd...what makes us think brandon is a number two? Last year he had every opportunity and didn't produce. Calvin Johnson will strike fear into every team we face and with Santana opposite and ey in the slot! Forget about it. Give JCam the perfect weapon Moss, Johnson, Lloyd, El, ey! Defense is a need but the bottom line is the guys we already have on Dline need to just step up. At wideout however we are missing that guy, that possesion reciever who can also stretch the field. I suggest we trade #6 and next years 1st for Calvin Johnson. I just keep having the vision of us going down to dallas and lining up Calvin and Moss and it being lights out.

If CJ is an absolute no possibility... Laron Landry next to ST baby.

Brandon Lloyd did not have every opportunity. And even Joe Gibbs said that they need to get the ball to him more. In a game last year Lloyd had one catch for 50 yards and then he went right back to the sidelines.
