Computer Help!

Post by SkinsFreak »

I need some help. First off, I am not that knowledgeable about computers.

In the last few days, I've noticed some problems with my computer. It has slowed down and when I enter a website, some of the pictures and icons don't come up. For example, when I come to this site, some of the icons and specifically the smileys don't come up. I just get a box with an "x" in it where a picture or smiley should be.

I ran a virus scan and it found nothing. But when I run my Ad-Aware program, it detects "critical objects" with that spider looking thing next to it. I have deleted those critical objects but as soon as I log on the internet, I encounter the same problem. I run the Ad-Aware program again and again and it continues to detect more of those spiders.

Any suggestions?

You need a good spyware program. Unlike antivirus software, you can have more than one anti-adware/anti-spyware program. Those "spiders" came from somewhere. Every time you visit the site that placed them on your PC, they will re-load. You'll need to remove them every time, or stop going to that site.

Click on the link and try using Mozilla. Do not import anything from IE when it prompts you to during installation. You didn't specify which internet browser you are using but I will assume it is Internet Explorer. Let me know if this works for you and if it doesn't, we will try something else.

Hey thanks for the help guys. I said the hell with it and ordered a new computer today. My computer is getting a little old and I like buying new stuff anyway. I will probably run a recovery on this machine and give it to my 5 year old daughter to screw around with.

Anyway, thanks again, it's much appreciated.

download HighJackThis, run a scan, check everything that doesn't say anything about Windows, Java, Drivers, System, or if you have an AntiVirus or Spam program don't check that either. It should work!
