Dear Hoggie:
What you fail to realize is that getting a tattoo (or a few) is a very personal decision. If people that get them are like me, it's not about defacing one's body...it's about putting a form of art on one's body.
Also, a person getting tattoos can pick designs that are very personal to them. I am a lawyer, I'm Irish, I like Jimmy Buffett, I play keyboards and sing in a band, and I love the Redskins....therefore, my other tats are:
1. The scales of justice (classic design);
2. The scales of justice (with parrots on one side and a spilling margarita on the other side) [got it from a Buffett t-shirt];
3. A little fighting Irish dude;
4. An Irish Claddagh design;
5. A large wizard playing floating keyboards with musical notes flying everywhere;
6. A parrot lounging in a beach chair wearing flip-flops playing the guitar next to a bottle of tequila; and
7. A Jimmy Buffet gecco wearing sunglasses chillin' on a tropical beach.
The only thing potentially "moronic" about getting a tattoo (in my opinion) is getting one while you're drunk and without any thought to what it is. If you go to a tattoo parlor that will give one to you notwithstanding your lack of sobriety, I (for one) would suggest you go elsewhere....to a more reputable place.
But, in conclusion Hoggie, you're entitled to your opinion....no matter how closed-minded that opinion is.

Darn! Can't see them any more!!! How's this?
Left Bicep
Right Forearm inside
Left outside calf
It’s a few minutes in. Check it out!!!
Left forearm outside
And my favorite of my Redskins tats - tribute to John Riggins, (TAZ wearin' #44 stompin' on a Cowboy!)
Outer left calf (just below the star)
(This tattoo made it on Redskins.com last year during training camp! Go HERE, page down and click on 405 videos under the NEWS AND HIGHLIGHTS section to bring up all the videos and then page down to the August 8th episode. It's a few minutes in.)
Read all about it in this thread.

Really? Which ones did you get, Fios?
BTW - I dig the Muresan tats. Your boys are some funny dudes.
I have a (and I know this is played out) band made from a Celtic knot around my left bicep. One of my roommates is an artist, he is designing a dragon tattoo for my upper back, between the shoulder blades. Yes, I am a nerd and, yes, both of the tats (the existing one and the planned one) have meaning to me beyond their aesthetic value. I'll get a few more before I shuffle off this mortal coil.
And my boys only wish the Muresan tats were done for comedic effect.

The tats are sweet and all but doesn't everybody have tats now....I mean when I was a kid people in biker gangs and like old sailors had their ship name or whatever tatooed on them.....now grandmas have them and stuff......nothing personal I just think they have lost some of their lustor....course I do like anything Skins and I just dont have the Cahoonas to get one!

Most states feature an extensive recycling program for used cups. You'll be born again, possibly as a sanitary napkin.
I now reveal to all THN'ers....the secret lair of Fios.

Tatoos became popular after I turned 40 and now that I'm nearly 50 -- I ain't going there. If you all want to do that, go for it. My 19 year old college son wants one (or more) but my wife and I threatened to NOT pay his tuiton and that scared him away! He went through the piercing stuff in high school but is beyond that now. I told him, you want a tatoo when you're supporting yourself, go for it.
I know this will get some response but I have to say - I don't have a problem with them on guys (not my son!) but have this real issue with seeing girls with tatoos. Maybe that's because I have a 21 year old college daughter and I don't want to see her do that. Sorry ladies but I think they make you look cheap. Especially on the small of the back. In fact, around here the younger folks call those tramp stamps. That pretty much says it all to me.
My only advice is -- don't do something when you're young that you'll regret when you're older -- like 65 or 75.

Hmmm. For her 38th birthday, my wife wanted a butterfly on the small of her back. She went ahead and did it. After giving birth to five children and putting up with me and my insane work hours for all these years, not to mention the fact that it's her own skin...and asking me what I thought about it was a mere courtesy...well, I just paid for it. She loves it.
Never once did I think that made her less of a person, or sexually irresponsible...but, hey. Thanks for chiming in.

I know many women with a variety of tattoos in a variety of places, some are awful and spur-of-the-moment, some are really cool and well thought-out, just like the men I know with tats. I'm not certain why a woman doing the same thing a man does cheapens or degrades her in some fashion.
