Early Predictions - You Knew This Was Coming

Post by Justice Hog »

Okay, the schedule is out. So, obviously we all now have an opinion on how the Skins are gonna do this year, right? I mean, why not??!?!

Here are my two cents:

Dolphins - Skins win this one. 1-0
@ Eagles - probably a loss, dammit. 1-1
Giants - I'm not confident....yet. Maybe I'll change this later. 1-2
Lions. Win. 2-2
@ Packers. I think the Skins will pull this one out. 3-2
Cardinals. Win. 4-2
@ Patriots. Loss. 4-3
@ Jets. Could be tougher than we hope for. Very close win. 5-3
Eagles - we'll be a better team by now. Win. 6-3
@ Cowboys. Upset win. 7-3
@ Bucs. We're so used to playing them, we should win. 8-3
Bills. Win. 9-3
Bears. They won't be as good as last year. We'll be better. Win. 10-3
@ Giants. Another NFC East loss. Dammit! 10-4
@ Vikings. This will be one of the worst teams in the NFL. Win. 11-4
Cowboys. We can't sweep them again, right? Wrong! Win. 12-4

Yes, I'm on crack. Yes, I'm an optimist. Yes, the Skins will probably finish 8-8 or worse....but right now DAMMIT....I can dream, can't I!?!?!?

12-4, NFC East Champions.

You have us winning @ the jets and @ the cowboys??

Don't get me wrong, I love the optimism but that would be tough.

I'm predicting 9-7 and hoping we squeeze into the playoffs.

It's way too early for any of this stuff, but I see Philly winning the East, the Skins and Cowboys duking it out for 2nd place and a wild card berth, and what's left of the Giants bringing up the rear.

It's hard to not look at the season like this, but trying to break each game down is impossible. It never works out that way. I just hope they can finish with a good enough record to get into the playoffs no matter who they play.

I think 11-5 also. but I think that late in the season, and with parcels gone and TO will be running his mouth, we will sweep the pukes this year. Also, you know how we do it in DC. We will lose to at least two of the suckiest teams, like we will lose to the Packers and Cardinals  (The packs came on strong the end of the season, and I think Matt L. will be a good QB)but we will win over the Patriorts. Much like we won against the Saints last year.

I'm a realist and have been disappointed with how the Redskins have played over the last decade or so.

This might have sort of a negative feel to it, but you guys seriously think the Redskins will finish with 11 or 12 wins after what we saw last year? Of course it's possible, but you can't really think that. There has to be a lot of wishful thinking in there.

I mean, come on, the Redskins won 5 games last year. They're going to be 6 or 7 games better? And if you really do think that, then why will they be so much better? I'm just curious here.

Again, I really hope so but saying that and looking at games on paper doesn't mean too much. Not trying to rain on anybody's parade though...

I prefer to wait a bit longer to make this prediction. FA and he Draft will still count for something. :?

why is our team able to win games?

heres why,

JC full off season under his belt.
CP and LB will share carries and keep up their strength.
our wide outs (and cpt chaos) are second to none.
ST.
upgraded secondary.
gibbs.

i predict 11-5 with our losses coming at new england, cow girls, bears at home, greenbay fluke, and giants at home.

playoff predictions?

superbowl baby

revenge on the pats, 31-17

I know your just being optimistic and I love that.. i get giddy during this time of year too but your reasons for why we will win 6 more games arent very strong.. yes Campbell has a year under him but we still dont know what he is.. can he fix his slow release and what about the akward way he takes the snap.. and beyond Moss and Cooley Id say are wide outs are about 15th maybe to none :? .. i do agree that our secondary will be better and I really do hope your prediction is right but im just trying to keep myself grounded at this point.. and everyone that is saying win over the cardinals i dont know.. that offense is stout and with Grimm running that line watch out .. alot of these games wont be easy

i hear ya but youre not convincing me!! our wide outs are great!!!! sananta is a great num 1 reciever and people cant decide if we have two number 2 or number 3 recivers in LL and El. cooley is a freak and thrash is an NFL perenial with solid hands. as for JC hes only gonna be passing when its applicable, i mean (even though this is Al's O) this is a gibbs team. run run run run run run run pass (TD) run run run run run pass (TD) pass pass run run run run run superbowl!!!!

I am too trying to be as optimistic as possible, but down the strech I believe it is going to be tougher than we think. For instance, in the NFC East I see us splitting all the games, except against the Cowgirls...we play them better on the road than the Eagles and Giants. The jets are a good team and the Bears are the NFC champs, to give them credit.. After all that, I see us going 10-6

To heck with the bandwagon. Get me a time warp machine - I'm ready for the season to start today!

There's no way the Skins are as bad as they were last year.

1) The D will be fixed with AA and Coach Lindsey gone, Fletcher running the show on the field, Springs healthy, and the upgrades at CB and SS.

2) The O will run smoother with LB, CP in the backfield and a full year of Saunders offense in the books, and most importantly, a QB with a live arm under center.

3)The East is prime for the plucking. The Giants are a mess and are minus Tiki, the Eagles have McNabb coming back after another major injury, and the Boys have a coordinator for a head coach.

4) The schedule includes no West Coast trips, only two short weeks, and no teams after a buy week.

Add 1 through 4 . . . and I say they went 6-10 followed by 10-6. So after 5-11 I predict 11-5.
All Hail the Maroon and Black!!!!

Am I the only who sees @ Jets as a really, really, really tough game?

Obviously @ Patriots is our toughest game, but @ Jets might be #2. They are a very good football team that played great last season. We would be a 7-8 point underdog in that game if it was played Week 1.

Im glad to see the optimism for next season. I think the Skins will be better than last year, but depending on the draft/free agency, we still have too many ?'s on our D-line and secondary. Even if we draft someone at the six spot, it doesn' necessarily mean he will be a starter or make an impact right away. I will toss in a dose of "reality"and say we are an 8-8 team at best. I have learned over the years not to set myself up for disappointment by saying we are going to make the playoffs each season. I love the Skins and would be thrilled to see them make the playoffs. We do have an easier schedule this season, so there is some hope there. I sure do hope I am proven wrong. GO SKINS!

I think 7 wins is realistic. Come on guys, our defense was PATHETIC last year. You just don't improve that much from year to year, not with our dysfunctional personnel braintrust.

If one thing is certain in today's NFL, it's that there is very little certainty. While some of those people picking 10+ wins are getting tagged as homers (including by me - I only picked us for 9 wins), it's not outside the realm of the possible. 7 of the 12 teams in the playoffs in '06 weren't there in '05, including the Saints, who literally added 10+ wins in a single season. Anything can happen, and of course as fans of the 'skins, we hope that sort of thing happens to us. It's certainly conceivable the defense bounces back up to top 10 or 15, and the offense could really take off, assuming JC develops some timing with his receivers and causes opponents to fear us through the air as well as on the ground. There is a lot of talent on this team; we really just need for it to gell. Will a 10-6 or better season happen in '07? I truly have no idea. Could it happen? Absolutely!
