Anybody seen Danny?

Post by JPFair »

With all the hoopla over the last few months in the Redskins camp, ever wonder why Danny Boy has all of a sudden dissapeard off of the radar?

Could it be he's finally learning?

Danny may have finally realized he has a true Captain running the ship now. Maybe he'll lay low for a while!

I think Danny knows if he messes this one up, he can take his Billions and get the hell out of Dodge.

I can see him doing the Arnold Schwartza-howeveryaspellit... "I''ll be back." Hopefully by the end of Joe's tenure he's saying another quote from that movie, "Hasta La Vista baby."

So his helicopter wont be flying in on pracices and disrupting everything? Thats a good thing. Anyone hear when fan day is this year? I flew from Los Angeles last year to visit. I got a football autographed by Coles, Gardner, and Ramsey. Thats my claim to fame. My girlfriend met Spurrier but she said he was a jerk.

I don't here any complaining of the 7 previous crappy years this team had before Snyder even got here.

Hey, the 7 years before Dan were crappy...crappy drafts, crappy play, wall head-buttin QB's, whining WR's, and Big Jack died... ;)

You know, I'm not sure if Big Jack did us a favor by not giving his son John outright ownership over the team. John Cooke ran it for what, 2 years? It's an interesting what-if, whether we'd be calling him the 'idiot son' or 'the good chip off the old block'...
Two formation shifts, one man in motion, and a counter trey...those were the days...

I dont get this old discussion. He has been trying to win and I cant get mad at him for that, but he sux at tring to win. Gibbs is in there now and every fan seem to be giddy about.
Snyder is doing what he does best and that is the business side of it.

Now go figure out what I just said :!: :-k :-k :-k :-k

I don't think it's necessarily him.... He's gotten top players each year.... top coaches...

Couldn't you say that it's been the coaching and the players not playing and coaching up to there level?

I mean if Gibbs fails to bring us to the playoffs in the next 3-5 years do we blame it on Danny again?

Gibbs fail. I have to see it to believe it. :x I do know that all players need guidance and Gibbs is the ultimate teacher. I will say it again "New england has raised the Bar"

Coaches win games and players assist.

To get off the subject again I just want to comment on someone saying that Spurrier is a jerk. That is absolutely true. I went to Grad School at UF and had the misfortune of meeting Spurrier on numerous occasions. The guy is an outright Jerk. The difference between his ego at UF and the Philly game last year were night and day. He looked like a beaten red-headed step child on the sidelines. It really was sad but if it wasnt the Redskins he was a part of I would say that if anyone needed to get their ego in check...it was Steve Spurrier. See ya Stevie!

i guess the one thing we all can give dan synder credit for is that he has gone out of his way to lure joe gibbs out of retirement to coach this team again.
my point with synder is that he is willing but not able to bring this francise more superbowls without as we all mentioned coaching.now we have that taken care of.is joe gibbs proving himself all over again ,yes and every coach that has come along since joe last coached here has tried and failed so having synder rehire joe back is a great start.dan synder just needs to sit back get the players joe wants and needs to be sucessful and for this franchise to do the same.

having mr cooke pass away didn,t help none either.
that started this whole trend of unstability that this franchise had dealt with the 11 years.

How about this, which I think was brother RSC's point (in my words, in case you missed it.)
What he was trying to say earlier is the NFL equivalent of "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
We all know that Dan Snyder wanted to win it all right out of the gate. Three strikes, and you're out, right ? Nope. What you do is, you get a bigger hammer at home plate.
Enter Gibbs.
Or should I say, "Enter Sandman" !

When I originally started this thread, it was not meant to be a Snyder bashing. Actually, it was meant to be the complete opposite.

I have a lot of admiration for Snyder for several reasons. The biggest reason is that he's realized he wasn't doing a good job at running the team. As a result, he brought Joe Gibbs back and in effect said "Joe, I can't run the team right, will you do it for me"? I think he's matured immeasurably over the last few years and is starting to understand what it's like to be an owner. It takes a lot of courage to do what he's done. When he bought the Redskins he probably thought he'd do really well, and be a great hands on owner. Well, it didn't work out that way, and he's as good as admitted it. So, I do not bash him for that. All he's ever wanted to do is win. He's a fan just like us.

Anyway, JP....All we can do is hope and pray that every teacher's dream is realized, and that is "The student does not just learn the lesson...the student RETAINS the knowledge."
It all goes to crap if Danny comes chargin' in after a slow start, my friend.

Actually, I thought that Marty did an excellent job when he coached. Despite the slow start, he got the players to finally buy into his system and really turned the season around. I thought if he had stayed another year that we could have gotten to the playoffs. PLUS he decided to rectify our worsening salary cap situation in one fell swoop.

All that said, while I would rather have had Marty the last 2 years, I am definitely glad we have Gibbs now!

Norby spoiled key players when he coached. Badly. He didn't discipline his favorites and played favorites openly.

When Marty came in, he almost caused a revolution due to the discipline. Bruce was one of the biggest instigators along with George and Sanders I am sure. There were a lot of reports and those were three of the biggest talkers in the newspapers...

That is when I started losing respect for some of the players - they were worried about themselves and their perks more than the team and buying into the system to win.

Had Schotty not gotten shafted - and I do think that was one of Snyder's mistakes, he could have turned that team around, although he would have had to dump some of the other Schottenheimers to do so ::grin::

I'm not sure Marty would have gotten to the playoffs or done much better than spurrier here....

I mean look what he's done in San Diego... not much...
and you can't say that he had less talent in San Diego than what he had here... Tomlinson is a top 5 back, whether Boston has an attitude or not he was better than any of the WR we had at the time... Brees and Flutie are the same if not better than T. Banks... and he also had/has D players like Seau, Harrison, Wiley, Jammer...

Danny wanted Spurrier even before Marty was hired here... Spurrier wasn't available at the time, but when he was Danny took a shot on him.... how was he suppose to know a successful Coach in college ball would choke at the NFL level... Hell, I was excited when he brought Spurrier in, I was getting tired of seeing Marty's boring offense. If it was boring and we were winning it would have been different... but we weren't winning... not that much anyways.
