No more than 12 new guys

Post by fredp45 »

I'm loving the approach the Skins are taking this year...finally. Good teams do NOT change out 18 guys each year. Also, many of our changes will not be to the final 48-51 guys either. It will be from 51-56. Our 5th, 6th & 7th round picks make the PS.

I see us returning all of our starters on offense, except of course a new guard to replace Dockery. We'll probably have 2-3 new OL reserves. Unless Collins leaves, I don't see any new guys at RB, WR, QB or TE. I'm thinking Nemo or White (from UCLA) replaces TJ. Espy replaces Patten.

On Defense we'll have a few new guys. We'll add a DL in the draft but I'm not so sure that person will start for us day 1. We have a new MLB but our old MLB will move outside. If we start the year with Springs and Rogers at CB, which is my bet, Smoot replaces Kenny Wright. We get Stoutmire and lose AA. We still need another reserve LB, unless we resign Posey or Holdman. I'd bet on Posey as he's a ST guy. They need to keep two of the following 4 DL: Montgomery, Salavae, Wynn or Boschetti. Wynn doesn't make it if he doesn't take a pay cut. I'd pick Montgomery and Salavae.

No change to K, P or LS, PR (Randal El and maybe Espy) & KR (Rock).

We got rid of that LB coach, thank God, but basically kept the same coaching staff around. Kinda like to see Vinnie shipped out. That guy has the loosest lips around!

Start off strong & avoid devasting injuries and the playoffs are there for the taking. Rmember last year, nobody in the NFC wanted to be in the playoffs!

Thoughts?

It's about time but the best part is they can get familar with it this year and go into free agency next year with quite a bit more draft picks.

Wade played tackle but also practice at guard last year so if he wins the spot it won't be new to those around him, same goes for Pucillo (was there all of last year. I think Collins will be out, White is gone and a TE will be brought in to compete with Yoder.

DL is a definite need (two would be nice), still not sure that Springs will be here next year but if he is and is healthy we are set @ DB, the loser of the battle for WLB will proved LB depth while a 6th/7th rounder hopefully developes, Boschetti just re-signed Montgomery is going into his second year, Salavea will win a spot and Goldston already has one. Wynn looks to be the odd man out regardless of if he's willing to take a paycut.

This what Gibbs has stated as his plan

Remember last year everyone had us already winning the NFC Title enroute to the SB?

....wow how I remember how much the Skins would rotate DLs during a game. Salavea and Griffen are getiing a littel high in "game years" wear and tear, and all.

We've got to go heavy on DLmen, just to keep the core guys fresh at the end of games. Last year. towards the end of games, it appeared we would get smoked on the run and there definately was no pass rush becuase the DL was wasted by games end.

BTW, what happed to the DL raising their hands to bat down balls because they could not get to the QB?

Seems it worked pretty well in 04 and 05, but was clearly not there in 06.

HAIL!!!

I don't thin kthat we will be set at CB with Springs, Smoot, and Rogers. I mwant we will have great talent on the field but all of those guys have an injury history. We will likely never get all three healthy at one time....I hope I'm wrong!

Defense will see some changes....a guess on what it will be:

DL-- Carter, Anderson (pick at 6), Salave'a, and Griffin {Daniels, Golston, Montgomery with quite a bit of playing time to open up our pass rush with fresh players in}

LB-- Washington, Fletcher, Marshall

CB-- Rogers, Smoot (if Springs doesn't move to Safety)
-- Springs, Rogers (Smoot Nickel)

FS-- Taylor

SS-- Prioleau

Since when has this been a good team?

I dont see the problem in replacing bad players with good ones. They just dont have a guy who can evaluate the players to do this.
If course, this is all just theory until September.
The way the Skins look now, with their schedule... 8-8 at best.
Just beat Dallas - they are A-H****

that could be good enough to make the playoffs in the dismal NFC
16 Ounce Bottle Of Coke: $2
3 Bags Of Chips: $8
40" Plasma Screen TV: $2000
Watching the Cowgirls get beaten in Dallas with 2 4th Quarter TD passes to Santana Moss: Priceless

Be reminded that Manuel White from (UCLA) is no longer with the team, he was released last year.

Per yahoo, he still is. I couldn't find him elsewhere. Man he was good at UCLA.
