Travis Fisher?
Have we signed cb Travis Fisher? Extremeskins and The Warpath are saying we have. What's up? Rogers, Smoot, Springs, Fisher.....
Yup. Kelli Johnson (check avatar
) from Comcast Sports Net reports the Skins are expected to sign Fisher to a one-year deal.
So much for Bly.

Now...how long before it takes them all to learn each other?
I know we needed to improve. I just hope that the basic skills and athleticism are there to just gut it out until familiarity kicks in.

Thank the good lord
Don't count on it...
The Bly trade good still happen, the Skins know that Bly would fill a need if Springs doesn't work out. If they get Bly then Springs will be gone regardless (more than likely to Det.). But Washington really wants to trade the #6 pick to Denver for most of their 1st day picks (according to rumors), Bly is being thrown in to entice the Skins into asking for no picks in 2008. I'd go for this:
There are reports that Denver have put a deal on the table that involves their first, second and third rounders plus LB Al Wilson for the #6. The Skins have declined the player in that trade – having acquired LB London Fletcher-Baker – however, they replaced Wilson
Then trade Springs to Det. for day 1 and day 2 draft picks.

The Skins turned down a 1st, 2nd, two 3rds and Al Wilson/Dre Bly? Wow, what restraint. Things are going to get real interesting come draft day.

If that's what they were offered, I think they should have taken it. I don't think the #6 willl ever be worth more than that.

I heard it talked about from day one of free agency, but this still isn't official... there's nothing on the interwebs.

I can't find it either. I only saw it on Comcast SportsNet that one night and I haven't seen anything on the web about it. I don't think they've followed up on the story, either.

Full Name: David Thurman Macklin
Born: July 14, 1978
Newport News, VA
Height: 5-10
Weight: 206 lbs. Age: 28
Pos: CB
Experience: 7 years
College: Penn State
Macklin is extremely competitive and consistent. He works hard and plays taller than his listed size. He is tough, aggressive and can high-point the ball. He has very quick feet and plays under control. He has good short-area skills and is very effective in cover 2. He shows excellent cover instincts, understands route concepts and makes good decisions from off coverage. He can squat and close quickly against three-step drops. He is very effective in run support. He will attack downhill and is a solid hitter and wrap-up tackler. But Macklin lacks quality size and athleticism for the position. He isn't very effective in press coverage. He lacks top-end speed and struggles to recover if his jam isn't perfect. He has some trouble downfield against bigger receivers and on jump balls. He is much more effective in the slot than out on an island.
This might be the new guy they are looking at

Good. I don't think he's the guy we need. With Springs, Rogers, Smoot, and Jimoh we just need a young guy for depth, not a free agent who wants to start. I heard CP rave on the John Thompson show at the beginning of the offseason about how good John Eubanks was doing in practice last year. Maybe he can be our dime back.

now i know were hurting for picks in this draft and most likely wont go in this direction but if we make some moves and acquire more picks it might not hurt to pick up a kid in the later rounds maybe 6th or 7th.. i personally wouldnt mind seeing a local kid like josh wilson( i believe thats his name) outta UMD end up here.. he runs a sub 4.4 40 time and is really athletic and and but is still alittle raw in coverage but definetly has potential .. he could be groomed play some special teams for a year or two
