If the skins were to trade down I think he would be a great pickup at DE. He has far better NFL size than other DE prospects (6-6 291), and he has remarkable speed to go along with it (4.72 at march 7 Nebraska Pro Day). He has played against the best O-Lines his entire career, and has excelled. He would be able to bring a pass rush, and more importantly bolster the run D with his size and strength (33 bench reps @ 225). He isn't worth the #6 pick, but if we trade down I think he could really help the Skins.

He can help bring a pass rush. If he occupys a blocker or two he will free up a blitzing linebacker.brad7686 wrote:He's a 3-4 D end, he is quick but not fast. If we really want to stop the run, get a tackle. Otherwise get someone who will be on the qb's jock every play. We don't need another Daniels.

The point is to leave the draft with a d-line that can generate a consistent pass rush on it's own, not just improve the blitz.

There aren't many dlines that can actually do that by themselves though.
I think the "point" is to get a Dlineman that can not only help generate that pass rush you speak of, but to also help our other glaring weakness, THE RUN, he could play the run far better than Gaines Adams for instance. I'm simply proposing him as a prospect that perhaps give us the best of both worlds.

Any good defensive lineman will draw a double team. I am just a big believer ini the blitz. I prefer causing maddness in the backfield. I prefer a defense that has at least one blitz coming every play. If you notice the top defenses in the league utilize the blitz.Countertrey wrote:He can help bring a pass rush. Pittsburg the year they won the SuperBowl blitzed often. Phillys defense always one of the best utilize the blitz. Ravens utilize the blitz. Heck in this day in age you must blitz and blitz often. Which is why it is very important to have a solid secondary who can cover just long enough until we get to the quaterback.
Heck 87, 92 our Redskins defense blitzed 50 percent of the time in the Superbowls the Skins won. Having an outstanding pass rush makes it even better to blitz another guy.
The Best defenses ever have been known to blitz even with outstanding pass rush. 85 Bears may be the greatest D ever arguably blitzed the heck out the QB.
In 05 when our Defense was one of the top rated in the league we were blitzing alot more.
Imagine this Jamal Anderson at D end with speedy Rocky Mcintosh coming off the edge or Marcus coming off the edge.
Historically when a teams defense has linebackers who are generating sacks that team is usually winning Superbowls.
STeel Curtain, 85 Bears, 91-92 Skins.
I cant think of a championship team who uses only the four down lineman and have won the SuperBowl.
Blitz, Blitz Kill the Qb. That is the best way to go.
