Wistrom Released

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Wistrom Released

Grant Wistrom (Seahawks) is released. Read about it here.

Let the shouts of 'sign him now!' and 'no way!' commence.

Explains Balzer: "Wistrom's contract is another example of why quoting total dollars in free-agent contracts is often misleading because many players never receive the total value of the original deal. Of the $33 million in Wistrom's contract, he was paid a total of $21 million."

 Funny how the media never says this regarding the Skins and their free agents.

I don't know much about Winstrom, is this someone we should pursue?

Nah, seems like his best days are behind him and it looks like the Squaks want to bring him back at a reduced rate anyway

I agree, but perhaps if he is struggling to get a deal somewhere, we could bring him in for cheap i fwe want to draft a tackle. Then he wouldn't have to play every down, and he could really use that intensity to his advantage, while giving us a little more depth @ DE
On the eighth day God created Sean Taylor- and he was good.

SeanTaylorJr. - Your point is a good one, assuming he'd prefer to relocate across the country and play for a completely different organization for similar money he'd get from the Sqwaks. WHat do you think would be the selling point for a vet like Winstrom to come play for the Skins, if given an identical offer from the sqwaks?

Additionally there is the question of whether he'd even want to be a complimentary player

He may not have a choice, although the offseason has been sufficiently crazy such that he may still get a big money contract. Time will tell. I'm with those who want to look at signing him, but only for the right price (cheap!).

He got paid and lost his drive... he can try and get it back, but I think he should do it somewhere else unless he signs a vet. min. type deal loaded wit incentives.

The reason he would turn down a similar deal with the squaks is that he may feel disrespected. they release him, bring in Kearny (a remarkebly similar player), and then say he can resign for less money. Would you like that? maybe he would want to play for someone else
