Who will win the battle for Weakside LB?

Post by brad7686 »

My early money is actually on marshall, I think GW will like his experience and coverage skills, plus he is much better suited to play the outside. I HOPE Rocky can emerge because i feel he is going to be better against the run and much more physically imposing as a pass rusher.

I think we are in trouble if Rockey MacIntosh does not win the job. He has the potetial to be a real force on this team he may be that x-factor.

I would guess Rocky for pass blitzing packages and Lemar for coverage and running plays. That is just a guess, this will definitely be a heated competition in training. Could bring the best out of both of them

I think Lemar will win.

I want Rocky to win, we need more youth in this defense.

I'll feel bad for Lemar is he doesn't start because in a way he's been made a scapegoat for last years woes IMO.

I kind of thought the same thing but changed my mind. He was an experiment at MLB. A success in the first year and not so much the 2nd year. IMO, the biggest reason for bring fletcher in is that Marshalls body wasn't going to hold up if he stayed at MLB, I don't think it was necessarily because he was bad and the scapegoat. I still like Lemar and think he will produce next year if healthy.

I'd imagine that we'll see quite a few packages that have all four LB's on the field at once. Five if you count Sean Taylor.

Lemar will win the job not because he is better but because he is smarter,he knows the system better. Hopefully Rocky he will prove us wrong.

IMO Lemar will definitely start the season but we'll see McIntosh get lots of playing time, and a few starts.

Holdman!!!!

j/k

I'd bet on Marshall to start the year. Rocky plays more than last year but is around when we can't afford Washington and have to cut him.

How can they possibly NOT start Rocky next year? He cost them 2 2nd round picks.

If he isn't starting I'd be shocked. I guess I just assumed we'll be looking at an LB corps of Marcus, London, and Rocky next fall.

Well if Rocky couldn't get in with Holdman who will he beat out Marshall?

Roger Mac is much quicker and faster than Marshall. Marshall is no slouch but Lemar is already near or at the height of his atlethic ability.

Roger has much more potential to become a Pro Bowl caliber player. I for one think Lemar is decent in coverage not outstanding. Roger is far quicker and faster which should give him the edge in coverage. Lemar has the experience which should give him the nod over Mcintosh.

Unless Roger has an outstanding offseason I see Lemar starting and sharing time with Roger.

I want Roger to start though so he can gain experience.

No, Lemar will win it to start the year, but by like week 8 I think Rocky will take over.

This is a good money bet. Do we have Marshall under contract? If we have both I am sure both will see lots of playing time anyway.

Nothing against Lemar, but Rocky had better win the job and play well. We've invested essentially 2 2nd round picks in him. It's time for a return on that investment.

What would you say if I tell you that -BOTH- Marshall and Rocky -WILL- start at the openning of the regular season?

I respectfully submit that the one seating on the bench will be Marcus Washington, at least until he recovers fully.

I admit that I'm slow but what happened to him that's going to linger into the regular season?

That's not how I remember it, this is from the AP story:

Washington had surgery on his left elbow last month. His rehabilitation is expected to take three months, the team said Thursday, which could affect his participation when workouts resume in the spring.

Do not concede.

You were right in the first place. The Skins know better than the report admits. That is why they brought a -fourth- LB with the intention to start.

Keep the cookie.

Even if we assume the rehab time is double what was reported, that still has him ready for the start of the season.

Mcintosh. MArshall will be a nickel backer I think. McIntosh has size and speed to shed blocks and make an impact in run defense. He's already shown flashes and after another full training camp will be ready. GW may bring him along more slowly by not starting him in the first game but by mid-season at least he will be the 1st and 2nd down regular. IMO
