I don't want us to do anything with Denver. We always loose out on that trade.

OL Dockery Also In Buffalo For A Visit

The offensive line is getting the early attention at One Bills Drive as Washington free agent guard Derrick Dockery is the third lineman to arrive in Buffalo today.

Earlier today Oakland free agent right tackle Langston Walker arrived in Orchard Park to meet with the Buffalo coaching staff as he considers the Bills as a potential new employer.

Dockery however, is considered one of the premier interior free agent linemen on the market.

The 6'6" 335 pound lineman has been Washington's starting left guard since the time the Redskins made him a third round draft pick in 2003. Over the last two seasons one thing Washington has been able to do is run the football ranking 7th in rushing in 2005 and 4th in 2006.

Dockery has also proven durable in his four-year career as he has made 61 consecutive starts.

If Buffalo manages to sign Dockery he would likely step right in to the vacant left guard position. That could create a very physically imposing left side on Buffalo's offensive line as he would be paired up with emerging Pro Bowl talent Jason Peters.

And I don't think we're paying 12 million guaranteed to a guard, if we do you can come back and say you told me so and I'll concede you were right, but I don't think so.

I just don't understand how despite the front office having been proven right with the players other teams overpaid for and now are paying for in dead cap there's still those out there saying to just pay whatever a player wants to keep him.

I've said and say I want him back, but like Smoot, Ryan and others not at any price.

But our team has shown that will pay other teams free agents their price. Why not take care of our own?

Agreed. We tossed so much money at arch and we really got the feeling nobody in the league was closed to our price tag. So Dock is testing the market, he is probably asking pretty close to market price and we aren't going to give it to him??? Doesn't make sense to me

I have not said anything counter to that, and I think we should try. But:

- Does "taking care of our own" mean paying whatever they want? I don't think so.

- I think our management has been trying harder to re-sign our players, so I'm not sure I agree we're not at this point we're not "taking care of our own" anyway. We signed Betts during the season and they've made good choices in my view in the players they've been re-signing and extending like Thomas and Jansen. We kept Brunell as a sub for less. Re-signed Fox & Sellers. Is there a current issue or are you "holding a grudge?" It's a question, not a statement.

- We sign the vast overwhelming number of players for "low" (by NFL standards) contracts, it's just a few we spend high for so it's a sweeping, innaccurate statement to just say we overpay everyone from other teams. We regularly get and lose marginal players and pay marginal wages.

- And I don't think that if we do overpay free agents that means we just overpay others to stay. If both happen they are both mistakes and need to be addressed seperately.

He wants $12M guaranteed, the Skins are offering around $10M - same Bonus everyone else on the O-line got. If he gets a better offer in the first 24 hours and give the Redskins a chance to match I think they would. That's a lot of ifs, woulds and chances in there (once the clock struck midnight) Who knows what will happen now.

I agree you can't pay your 4th best lineman the most amount of money. There isn't that much inflation.

Totally agree with that too. I want Dockery back just as much as you guys do, but you can't pay him more than your best guys...

After being a three-year starter in Indianapolis, DeMulling has been inconsistent during the last two seasons with the Lions. He brings athleticism to the offensive line and seems to be a good fit at guard for the Lions' offense, which includes both pulling and trapping in the schemes. He is a solid technician and a knee-bender who plays with good body position and leverage. DeMulling excels when given the opportunity to block in space. He tracks defenders well and is able to get in position to make the block on the outside or on the second level. DeMulling's athletic feet and balance also show up in pass protection, as he does a nice job of bending his knees, has good hand placement and handles double moves and counter moves well. Where DeMulling does not shine is when faced with a power or bull rusher, because he does not anchor well and often will get run over. This problem is also evident in the run game when playing a stout two-gap defensive tackle, as he struggles to drive block physical defenders at the point of attack. For an offensive lineman with such athleticism and experience, DeMulling seems to lack awareness at times, not coming off protections to effectively pick up blitzers and sometimes burying his head on combination blocks and missing the next-level defender. These inconsistencies in DeMulling's play have been much more evident in Detroit than his first four seasons with the Colts.
