So I get my annual bonus check tomorrow and am going to devote a large chunk of it to a new TV. I have narrowed down my choices to these three but I am not wed to these, I just like what they offer.
Panasonic TH-50PX600U
Sony KDL-40XBR2
Sony KDS-55A2000 Grand WEGA 55" SXRD 1080p Rear Projection HDTV
Does anyone 1) have experience (good or bad) with the above or 2) have a TV they are particularly passionate about? I plan on watching the Redskins return to glory in hi-def next season.
I should note I have explored the advice listed in Consumer Reports and CNet
CNet is a great resource. I have the sony KDF-46E2000 and I love it. Its not 1080 tech but I don't really see the difference anyways. It has been great. I got it the week of the SB and one of the best things is, I got it at best buy for like 1300 and a week later fry's electronics had it on sale for 1050 so best buy refunded some $ to me to make it 999. How cool is that. I'm also a sony snob so I'm not sure if that helps but I'd say go with one of the sony's.
You suck. I have been with my company for 9 years, and I just got my first bonus: a $50 amex gift card. I can't even buy a portable tv with my bonus.

I'm just teasing man. Congrats. You've been putting in a lot of hours recently, so I'm sure you deserved it. Plus there was the whole threat to take over the world and make the internet illegal.

I would say go with a DLP televsion. They look the best IMO. As long as you don't mind it not being able to hang on your wall. I have seen my Uncle's 72" DLP in hi-def and I haven't seen any televsion look better than his. I do not recall the brand though.

Yup, I have an online subscription, thus I ended up getting a Sony Grand WEGA 50" 1080p Rear-Projection SXRD ... the hi-def cable box arrives today and I won't be leaving my house for the next month
does the WEGA melt faces? i heard it kinda makes your skin burn a bit, more like staying in a tanning booth for a week, but falls short of full face melting ability...

Sweet don't be like my parents and load the house down with HDTV's and no HD programming.

It makes everyone uncomfortably warm, enough to sweat a little but not enough to be painful. That was obviously a BIG selling point.

My HD box arrived just as I left the house to drive in ... sigh ... had I known that I would have been "sick" all day today
