Springs remains unsure of status

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

I swear if there is anymore mention of getting clements before we get dockery I am going to explode. Never have I grown to hate a player more through skin's speculation alone. He is not as good as advertised, he is not worth 7 mil and we probably still would get outbid!!!

I agree. When Trotter played for us he was terrible. But after returning to Philly, he has played pretty good, at least a lot better than when he played for us. I wonder if Smoot's game could elevate by coming back to the Skins, similar to Trotter's situation going back to Philly.

Word on the street is Tenn is talking with Clements group and Clements said that he see's potential there to win now. I just don't think we should spin the money on this guy. Get another CB elsewhere.

I hope tenn takes him 8am on friday morning so we never mention clements name again on this board. Plus I totally agree with the smoot, trotter comparison. Some guys just aren't a good mix in some places, doesn't mean they aren't good players.

I'd be more comfy with 12:00:01 AM.

Don't even give the Skins a chance to inhale.

your right CLL - hopefully they have a deal signed already - we can do without this guy!

We need help in our secondary, sure, but we don't need to overpay this time - hopefully we never get into the bidding!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Dre Bly/Shawn Springs Follow Up

Dre Bly is gone to Denver, which had the best trade ammunition to get him with players in a position of need and ample draft picks to dangle. The Skins were definitely major players in this various sources said. The Lions are among a handful of teams to express interest in CB Shawn Springs, I have heard, and probably won't be the last. Despite the big cap hit that trading Springs would incur, it's hardly impossible they could move him for the real deal. I am not sure it's very likely, but it's a definite option given that I hear several teams are high on him and the Redskins are in the market for more picks in this draft (they were sniffing around for potential draft picks in the Bly talks as well)

But in the case of the Bly trade, the Skins had no draft picks in the proper rounds this year to offer, they still are very amenable to bringing Smoot back (so they had other options beyond Bly when Smoot is finally released) and, if they progress with a level-headed demeanor as expected in free agency, the Skins still could end up with sufficient cap space to address needs this offseason and keep Springs around. A Springs/Smoot/Carlos trio excites some around the building, I know that much.

The reality is, I don't they are even certain right now exactly how all of this will play out. I still don't see them breaking the back to out-bid everyone for Clements, and I doubt he even gets here for a visit. They are going to have to spend huge to keep Dockery, still need space/money for Fletcher and Smoot if they can get them as expected, will need space to sign draft picks and I imagine they would try to get Cooley's deal extended this offseason, too, and would need wiggle room for that.

Cutting a few more depth players will free up more room immediately. And there is still a feeling among some in the organization that Springs could be a June 1 cut, but I am not sure anyone could absolutely predict the outcome at this point. It's going to have to play out a little bit. I do know that Shawn is working out like crazy and is in Dallas to be with his father. Ron endured many long hours of surgery on Wednesday, Shawn said, and is in the Intensive Care Unit today following successful kidney transplant surgery (see the Ron Springs link for more info):

"Everything went really well," Shawn Springs said of his father's surgery. "I've got to run, because I'm in the process of going to the ICU right now, but he's doing really well. We're all really excited."

I think it really depends on what picks we are talking about. I'd like to get at least a 3 or a 4th and something else. More than anything, I'd like us to figure out a way to have him stay. I think he is good for us.

Mid to high 2nd I would just fall all over. How about the #6 pick in the 3rd round.
