Poor guy, hopefuly he gets a spot somewhere. Reguardless, once he retires he will make a great DB coach. Whitner and Simpson credit their strong season to his tutoring.

He wont be a coach. I see him taking over as the head of the NFLPA. He will be groomed to do so.

Vincent considering retirement

Troy Vincent will wait a week or so and consider his options.

Vincent, the Trenton native and 15-year NFL veteran, was released by the Washington Redskins yesterday.

"I talked to Coach (Joe) Gibbs and he told me they debated it for a long time, but that it came down to age and salary," Vincent said. "I understood."

With free agency looming next week and the Redskins, under owner Dan Snyder, always a major player, the team wanted to free up more salary cap room.

Vincent, who will turn 36 in June and was scheduled to earn over $1 million next season, was one of a handful of Redskins who are expected to be released over the next few days. Fellow safety Adam Archuleta, who is due a $5 million roster bonus next week, also is expected to be on that list. Other Redskins are being asked to accept a paycut or be released.

"It will work out one way or another for me," Vincent, who signed with the Redskins near the middle of last season and won a game for them when he blocked a field goal attempt by Dallas in the closing seconds, said. "I'll look around a little and see what's out there. It has to be the right situation for me."

Washington was perfect because Vincent, even before he signed with the Redskins, sold his home in Yardley, Pa., and was having one built in Northern Virginia, just outside the nation's capital.

If Vincent decides to retire, he will do so after a brilliant career that saw him play his first four years with Miami, eight with the Eagles, two-plus with Buffalo and half a season last year with Washington.

In those 15 years he was selected to five Pro Bowls, most recently in 2003.

I wonder why he'd move to Northern Virginia. Could he be considering a career in politics?

NFL sees newest power marriage

INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 24, 2007) -- A Pro Bowl safety who is expected to be a major powerbroker in the NFL for years to come has hired a power-broking NFL agent.

Former Redskins safety Troy Vincent, whom many expect to be the next president of the NFL Players Association, hired renowned agent Drew Rosenhaus, the agent confirmed to NFL Network Saturday.

"I've known Troy and had the utmost admiration for him for the past 15 years," Rosenhaus said.

The marriage is an intriguing one on a number of levels. For starters, Rosenhaus will be negotiating Vincent's next contract with his next NFL team, and the veteran safety does want to continue playing after spending this past season with the Redskins.

"There is a definite market for him," Rosenhaus said. "He brings so much leadership to whichever team signs him."

But more important, should Vincent succeed Gene Upshaw as the NFLPA president, as many expect, then Rosenhaus will have a strong ally and voice in the union.

The union is going to reverberate around the world of football. One agent that heard of the Vincent-Rosenhaus marriage over the weekend was stunned. He knew what most others soon will.

Rosenhaus' reputation already is elevated. Adding Vincent as a client only increases his power.
