Samuel tagged

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the New England Patriots have placed their franchise tag on CB Asante Samuel. Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports Samuel's agent, Alonzo Shavers, said they do not look at the tag as a bad thing. He added it's a step towards working on a long-term deal.

Bummer, I really would have liked to sign him.

Now hopefully we won't overpay for Nate Clements.

I'm okay with this, because I think we would have overpaid him to get him. But it does raise the market price for the guys who are left, I suppose.

wait until the Skins give up the #6 pick to either him or one of the other franchise players!

I wouldn't be opposed to the team trading the #6 pick for Samuals AND one of the Patriots first round picks (the higher pick would be great, but this won't happen) Beside, if the Skins make any trade withthat pick, recent history shows that the team will come up on the short end!

Strange. I thought the Patsies didn't play the franchise game. It goes against their 'everyone gets the same pay for the good of the team' philosophy.

We were going to overpay for him anyway.
