Re: Sean Taylor Pro Bowl Hit .gif
No one has mentioned this but if Taylor hadn't jacked him up he could have gotten that 1st down.

It's because no one sees tht he is close to the marker nor does anyone care.
I think everyone felt that hit a little while watching and got lost ourselves.

Folks, we generally don't allow animated 'gif's on the board. It's super old technology and not bandwidth friendly at all. That image is over 800k which means it would take three minutes for a modem user or high speed 'lite' user just to download the image. You're also leeching the image from another site which means that EVERY time someone views this thread, you're 'stealing' bandwidth from the image host. Do you have permission?
To give you an idea how old and antiquated the technology is, that image file is LARGER than one of my two MINUTE cartoons complete with audio and full animation.
... and we definitely don't need everyone 'quoting' the image so that it gets produced over and over in the thread.
InsaneBoost... since this is the second time you've been asked to pay attention to image size in the recent past, from now on if you have pictures that you want to post, please ask a mod first.
Thanks

No problem, my bad about this again, i've had Cable for so long, and how cheap DSL is, I didn't think people were running on the old school stuff anymore.
Also, that image is hosted on my website, as is every video and image I post (95%) of the time. I dont think I have yet to post something that wasn't hosted on my site. Anything hosted by me will have a URL of Skyline Produktions.
Also, if you'd prefer, I could just post the link from now on, instead of the image, just the link to the image.

I don't want to be a party pooper, but I've watched the video enough times now to ask one question: is that, in any way, shape or form, good tackling technique? Seems to me that it makes great highlights, but doesn't achieve any more than just wrapping the guy up, and could result in injury for ST himself.
I'm just asking...

He wraps up about 20% of the time.

At this point you have to realize taylor is not going to be on any videos for fundamental tackling. He tries to make you not want to get up when he hits you. Does it leave more room for error yes, but it also intimidates and makes wrs alligator arm balls more than anyone in the nfl. Lastly, no wrapping up and tackling does not have the same effect. It is in the back of players minds that they may get hit with his missle flying shoulder

There are times when Sean wraps up properly, tackles people right at the quads, and delivers fundamentally sound tackles. Then, there are times like the fake-punt hit.
As far as I can tell, many hard hitting safeties have developed a technique where they use their arms to lead the hit rather than simply laying a shoulder into the guy. Has anyone else noticed this?
I'm not sure if it's to avoid helmet-to-helmet penalties or what, but I've seen quite a few safeties fly in to make the hit with their arms crossed in front of them. As they make contact, they extend their arms, and it looks like they're trying to explode through the guy they're hitting, arms first.

I'm a bills fan, and I'll say, I really don't have a problem with the hit.
Would I have liked to see taylor wrap up moormon, sure, but its all out of instinct. It might have been too much for the probowl, but hell, its still football, let 'em play. Would I wish more, is that moormon would have gone out of bounds. He's more to blame than taylor. You can't blame a hitting safety for making a hit.

Hey, it was a fake punt. The first objective is to make contact BEFORE he hits the line of scrimmage, then hope for help. His technique was perfect for this situation.
That it turned into a monster hit was a bonus.

Of course, the first thing is to get the job done, and Sean did that. And I'm happy for him to get the job done any way that the rules allow! I'm just a miserable old so and so, who would prefer to see him wrap his arms around the guy, get low, drive with his legs and put the man into the turf about ten yards behind the point that he first makes contact.
Do you get the impression that I know nothing about playing safety in the NFL?
