Tales from the Laundromat (not for the weak of heart)

Post by REDEEMEDSKIN »

A funny thing happened to me yesterday...

I went to the laundromat in the morning, and I decided to wash my jacket in the process. I "thoroughly" checked the pockets to make sure they were empty.

Anyway, as I was drying said jacket, I heard a thumping sound against the dryer, and I didn't pay it any mind...

That is until, to my horror, my Motorola Razr was staring at me from the inside of the dryer, trying to overcome the intense heat, after having been drowned in the washer for 20 minutes.

To make matters worse, I had left a nearly full pack of ORBIT gum in the same pocket the phone was in, so you can imagine how sticky the situation was. (pun intended)

My phone was posessed for a good half part of the day, as (I guess) it dried out. It is working today, but for a good while yesterday, I thought I had ruined my hone, and had all but 5 of my phone numbers saved on the phone itself, and not the SIM card.

Fortunately, I had an old phone, which I was able to reuse, and the SIM card was still functional. As soon as I saw signs of life on the Razr, I went in an had to manually copy all my numbers onto the SIM.

'Twas quite an experience, which, thankfully, I was able to survive.

I don't wish that upon anybody, and that's my story.

Anyone ever had something similar happen to them??

Anyone??

So, 48 hours later, are you OK Redeemed? Is there anybody that we can contact for you; any friends or family?

Remember those crazy days when we actually WROTE DOWN the phone numbers we needed, on PIECES OF PAPER?!

Sorry, I have a Palm Treo 700p which I use for work. It's too big to lose like that. Now, if I can only get my cat to jump into the washer or dryer. That would be fun!

My 3 year old threw my phone in our pool not long ago. I had heard that when your phone gets wet to put it in a baggie filled with rice so the rice can absorb the water. It worked and my phone is fine.

Hey Redeemed I have a question about your poll. If the Razor was "God's gift to cell phones." wouldn't that already make it "The best phone ever." ? :)

No, actually.

Take for example Jesus.

Jesus = God's gift to Man

Of course, not everyone believes Him to be the best man ever.

Catch my drift?

As for how I'm surviving...

My phone's battery now last's about half a day before having to recharge, and 20 min calls can drain the abttery pretty bad.

I got the gooey gum off of it, so it looks like a normal phone.

It is charging, which is a good thing, and the camera still works.

I'm in the process of writing all my phone numbers on paper, so's I don't get caught in that situation again.

I WILL need to change my phone soon, I believe, so if anyone has recently upgraded theirs and has an extra, not-too-old T-Mobile phone lying around (and you live in the DC area), please holla.

Thanks, peeps.

P.S. Justice, you are one sick puppy. Poor kittens.

I used to work with a guy who dropped his phone in the toilet mid-dump.

Nah, he was a champion bobber for apples. I'll let you use your imagination on how he got it out.
