I myself don't see how this couldn't mean he's not going to be a Redskin next year.

I do. He's probably just visiting some people.

I remember a funny situation when Kato Serwanga sealed the Giants victory by tackling Darnerien McCants in 2002. The next day he came into Redskins Park to pick up his paycheck from the last game he played as a Redskin.

Also, if I remember correctly, Shawn Barber came bye to visit the Skins during the Eagles by week this year and no one said anything about him returning to the team.

Me too. If we only had Ryan, our pass defense would have been #1, we would have stuffed them on the run. Brunell would have had a pro-bowl year, Lloyd wouldn't have been a problem in the locker room. Republicans and Democrats would lie down together and we would certainly be out of Iraq now. Ryan was the missing cog to make everything fit together perfectly in DC.

But alas he left us for a little more green and went to Pittsburgh where he was beaten out by a rookie and his backup and cut (or he will be if we are to get him back).

I know, that world wide average temperatature increase of just under 2 degrees in the last 100 years is just making things unbarable. It is a good thing we aren't heading into and ice age like all of the "experts" thought in the 1970s.

But back on target, many P-burge fans are prettysure that Clark will be cut in the off season.

is this true tho. Is Ryan Clark really supposed to get cut. If so this is great news for us, sorta sucks for him. The big thing about Ryan isn't so much his play but its that he kept ST on track and called all the assignments. This year ST had a bad year IMO because he was too busy trying to get the new players in the secondary in the right spots

I just don't get the pining for a guy who left us for more money and was beaten out for his job in his new locale. There hasn't been this sort of inexplicable love for an ex-Redskin since Babe Laughingstock. And at least we cut him, he didn't dump us for more money.

Clark did not dump us for more money. Putting it like that is pretty misleading.

When you offer a professional athelete way, way less than a player of his skill level goes for, or far less than a free agent would get... it sends a signal to get lost.

Clark honestly wanted back with the Redskins, but they wanted to pay him peanuts, and instead sign guys like Archuletta, Fox and others for a lot more than they offered him.

The message was clear.

Still, in 2005 he intercepted 3 passes, forced two fumbles, had a sack, and made a good share of tackles. Not to mention... he's the only person the Redskins know of who can talk to Sean Taylor.

Clark could have stayed if he wanted to, he just didn't feel wanted by what he was offered prior to hitting the market. Once the market opens it's a brand new ballgame or should I say brand new type of negotiations. Everyone knows that if a free agent visits the Skins they don't leave without a deal, but these same people fell to realize that every Redskin that visits another team comes back with a deal (not a negotiating tool but a signed deal). I never put it on the player I always see the agent lining his pockets. He got a 4 year deal for $7M not a lot for what he brought to the team. He did what anyone on this board would have done given the situation. His signing bonus was less than $2M and if the Steelers let him go they'll eat most of it. I'd find two million under the cap to bring him back at the drop of a dime.
As far as being beaten out for the job, I don't know. He got hurt somebody had to play and they like the guy that was put in while he was down. None of it really matters now that coach Chin is gone and a new regime is coming in. They'll look at everyone they have and go from there base on if they change schemes or not.

You have to excuse them, they're not used to rookies getting playing time...or used to have rookies at all. It's a foreign concept.

It's clear, so explain it to me more simply so I can see.

What did we offer him? We tried to sign the guy for a year. That's not wanting him?

We DO know Pittburgh overpaid him since they are apparently willing to (or at least are strongly considering) cutting the guy and eating some cap to do it. And we know they think his backup and a rookie are just as effective.

We aren't talking AA, we're talking Ryan. What are you basing on that a guy we negotiated a year with we only offered him peanuts? All I know is Pittsburgh offered him more and seem to think he wasn't worth what they paid.

The guy left for more money.

All I know is he was offered more money by Pittsburgh and left. I can't argue he didn't "feel wanted" by the team, people have their feelings and you can't deny they feel what they did.

But in the end, we know (no one has disputed) from reporting

- We tried to sign him a year
- He left for more money
- Pittsburgh is (or is considering) cutting him and eating cap.

I won't ask you to defend he feels as he does, but how do you have any reason to believe that the feeling was reasonable. How much did we offer? Was it a lot less or a little? How do you know, I have seen nothing that specific reported, only that he left for more money.

I would have liked to keep him and I'd welcome him back, I'm not dissing him, only saying I don't understand how he has hit cult status.
