Anyone here a fan of his books? I absolutely love his stuff (he is also involved with the best tv sghow ever - The Wire - as a writer/producer). All his books are set in DC and often have a wee Redskins link - from characters owning bobble-head dolls to bars with old Redskins posters to characters arguing over 'who's the best player' etc etc etc. The books are tough-guy, private-eye, noir-ish stuff and I would highly recommend him. Y'all might get a kick, too, out of the his knowledge of the local DC music scene from days gone bye and the stories actually taking place on yer very own streets. He also is big on local High School/College basketball.

I read "Right as Rain" and found it pretty entertaining. (I liked the local plugs as well). If I was a diehard mystery kind of guy I'd probably find myself reading more of his books, but as it stands I tend to find myself reading things written by dead white guys. Come to think of it, I probably don't read enough fiction.
If you like Pelacanos, BearSkins, you might also like Walter Mosley, author of the Easy Rawlins series. Devil in a Blue Dress, his first published work, remains my favorite of that series.
