That being said. If Brunell comes back, the ONLY time he should ever be playing in a regular season game is if JC is injured.
mark brunell deserves to be booed every time he shows his face in public, whether it's in a restaurant, on the street, or on the football field.
it would be one thing if he just plain sucked, he can't help that.
but to be injured, and know he can't really play, and "force the ship to go down with the captain"??? it's so unconscionable he has abdicated his right to be treated with any kind of civility.
Brunell hurt shoulder in Week 9 By Ryan O'Halloran January 10, 2007
Amid confusion as to when Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell sustained a left shoulder injury that eventually required surgery this week, the team said this morning that Brunell was first hurt in the Week 9 Dallas game. Brunell finished that game and played against Philadelphia the next week before he was benched in favor of Jason Campbell for the final seven games. At the time of the switch, coach Joe Gibbs did not say the move was in any way injury-related. The team also said Brunell missed no practice time with the injury.
Brunell had labrum surgery earlier this week and his recovery time is expected to be four to five months. The big picture: This almost guarantees Brunell will be back with the Redskins next season. He said last month he wanted to look for a starting job, but that's out the window because of the surgery. I'm predicting that he re-works his contract to lower his cap number and returns as Campbell's backup.
I have no problem with Redskins fans booing players on their team, it kind of "identifies" them - just like that C&W song "Here's your sign" - I know that many are very pissed off and frustrated and they want to voice their displeasure but that is not something I could do - I am mad and pissed but I cannot boo my own team.
That, too me, is akin to not respecting the flag.
Go ahead, boo the players on your team - it is your right, but there are some of us who will know what sort of fan you are
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I generally agree, and I'm not a "booer" personally. I just understood the extreme frustration at Brunell coming in over and over and just flat out sucking.
I've also done a lot of arguing with Skins bashers. But I just dont' think not voicing displeasure when it reaches a certain level is always unacceptable, that's why I defended it in that case.
But generally I agree and the booers tend not to be so narrowly focused and in practice you are pretty much right.

What week did we play Houston? Week 3, right? Depending on which article you believe, he either couldn't throw downfield because he was hurt in Week 2, or he just couldn't throw downfield.
I'm not sure which article to believe, but I really don't care either. He's not the starter anymore and he should only come in if there's an injury to Campbell. I wouldn't even be upset if Collins came in for Campbell min an injury situation, as long as it wasn't permanent.
Does anyone know what the salary cap ramifications would be if we cut Brunell. It doesn't make much sense to me to keep Brunell (unless cutting him really hurts the cap) considering he's going to turn 37 during the season and will be coming off a serious shoulder injury. His arm strength was crap before the injury and after a labrum tear its probably going to be even worse. Considering how often qb's get hurt in the NFL it seems like a bad idea to rely on Brunell as our backup for next year.

Mark's cap hit is 6.715M next year if he doesn't rework his deal again.
If he is cut or traded before June 1 he'll take up 4.629M in dead cap space in 2007 so that would actually save a little over $2M off the current number and he'd be off the books in 2008. If cut after June 1 or designated to be a post June 1 cut then he'd count 1.515M in dead cap in 2007 and a hit 3.114M in 2008. Post June 1 would actually save 5.2M in 2007.

I should also add that even though I do not boo (and do not like it when others do) I understand their frustration - I have never (well, very rarely) put anyone down for doing it - that is entirely up to them - it just does not seem to me that it could be any help to how pissed I am.
We all want the same thing - basically, for this team to start playing well together again.

this man is a sickeningly selfish bastard, and should be gotten as far away from the redskins as possible before he can cause more destruction. i don't care if he agrees to play for the veteran minimum next year, he needs to be exorcised from the team. i hope people spit in his face every time he shows it in public in the DC/NoVA/MD area, until he goes back to hell where he came from.
That's obviously way overboard. I think Mark and Gibbs hung on for too long before trying Campbell, to the detriment of the team. No personal loyalties should ever be put ahead of the team, and that was wrong. But Brunell also beat the Cowboys in that game in Dallas, so I could never, ever boo the guy.
I am not in any way saying that Brunell is a starting QB but I think that he provides a decent back up to the position on this team. I think that the team and Brunell will figure out a way that it makes economic sense to have Brunell on the team next year.
I also hope that we get a young QB soon or someone that provides a better option for a longer term than Collins.
Romo the homo could be our holder

It is an interesting question if we keep three. You can make separate cases for Brunell (playing experience) and Collins (system experience), but keeping two guys we don't want to play behind JC is dubious. But maybe we don't want to go too young either until JC has a little more experience under his belt either because then we have only 1 QB with any real NFL experience.
