WASHINGTON (AP) -- Long snapper Ethan Albright re-signed with the Washington Redskins on Monday.
Albright, known as "Red Snapper" because of his red hair, will return for his seventh season with the Redskins, the team said. He has not missed a game since joining the Redskins in 2001, and he just completed another year without a bad snap on punts or field goal attempts.
The 35-year-old Albright has also played for Miami and Buffalo in his 12-year career.

The Redskins have re-signed veteran long snapper Ethan Albright, the team announced on Monday.
Ethan Albright (Don Wright Photo) Albright, 6-5 and 265 pounds, has been a model of consistency as the Redskins' long snapper over the past six seasons. Simply put, if you don't hear Albright's name on game day, that means he performed well.
As long snapper, Albright plays a key role in snapping the ball on field goals and punts.
Its importance was perhaps underscored in last Saturday's Wild Card playoff game between the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks.
While Dallas holder Tony Romo's drop on a game-winning field goal had nothing to do with the long snapper, it's important to make sure that the exchange is as smooth and consistent as possible.
An 11-year NFL veteran out of North Carolina, Albright originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Miami in 1994.
He saw his first NFL action in 1995, playing in 10 games with the Dolphins before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He joined Buffalo in 1996 and spent five seasons with the Bills. He joined the Redskins in 2001.
Since then, Albright has played in all 16 games every season for the Redskins. He has proven himself as one of the league's very best long snappers during that time.

My favorite thing about him is he doesn't have an agent. He negotiates his own contracts. He knows that he is going to get the vet minimum so why give away 10%. Good job RED!

For that reason alone I like him. At first I was gonna say dump him. When I found out he negotiates his own contract,that is the kind of guy we need.

Dump him? Despite EA Sports assessment, Ethan Albright is the best long snapper in the league.

This is a great read. My firewall didn't catch it, and boy...am I glad. What a gutbuster!
Anyway, if you've ever put a team together (an acutal team, that is)....you realize how important (and overlooked) the detail guys are. Long snapper is not for every center out there, and a good one is hard to find. Think about it. The man has to deliver a football 15 yards behind him, right into the hands of the punter. If we ever do find a punter worth a damn, Albright will be worth his weight in gold.
