HB II playoffs anyone?
As I did last year, I am going to run an unofficial Hognostication playoffs this year. Hoss is in no danger of losing his title; this is strictly for bragging rights only.
I have broken up the top 12 Hognosticators (this worked out nicely; no tiebreakers) into two Conferences:
The HHC (Hogs Hognsoticating Conference)
1. HOSS
2. funbunch
3. joebagadonuts
4. Justice HOG
5. TincoSkin
6. Mursilis
and the DHC (Dirtbags Hognsoticating Conference)
1. airhog
2. JSPB22
3. Redskin in Canada
4. JPM36
5. Dangerfield
6. EA7649
Just like the real thing, seeds 1 and 2 from each conference have a bye the first weekend, while 6 travels to 3, and 5 plays at 4.
Home field advantage is given by the visiting player posting their picks prior to the home player.
Visitors: Please get your picks in by Wednesday night. (Thursday night for this week's picks.)
Picks should not only include the winner of each game, but also the point totals for that game. In the event of a tie on wins, the closest point total in all games that week is the winner. Further ties will be handled with a PM game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.
I'm sorry for the late start, but I was out of town, without internet access.
So, without further ado, I give you Week 1 of the march to HB-II.
Chiefs at Colts
Cowpies at Seahawks
Jets at Patriots
G-strings at E-gals (it's too bad that one of these teams is going to advance)
5th an 6th seeds get your picks in as soon as possible.
Have fun, and happy Hognosticating!

Hmmmm....funbunch and I have the same regular season record, and yet he gets the number two seed and a first week bye because his 'f' comes before my 'j' in the alphabet. Therefore, I officially rename myself 'aajoebagadonuts'.
(Just kidding, JSPB, I'm happy to be included, and try to defend my title. They say it's almost impossible to repeat, so when I do, it'll be that much sweeter that I did it without getting a week off.)

Let's just hope you don't catch the "Steelersitis" that affflicted RiC in HIS title defense.joebagadonuts wrote:Hmmmm....funbunch and I have the same regular season record, and yet he gets the number two seed and a first week bye because his 'f' comes before my 'j' in the alphabet. Of course, I'll have a good view of the field this year.

Back and better than ever!

Not alphabetical. He got the better seed based on the tiebreaker. (He also beat me out of the #3 spot on the season, for the same reason.

I know funbunch, he's a good friend of mine, you should demand that the seeding go from tallest to shortest

OK, having failed to defend my title due to suffering the consequences of an NFL-wide conspiracy against me to arrange the scores against my picks (Redskins and Gregg Williams mainly but the Steelers and Bengals second) , I will try to get a run at this.
Last year, I got all first round scores WRONG!
Let's see. Redksins, Bengals and Steelers are out. Hey, I might do a little better this time.
I assume that the deadline is Friday evening. I will submit before that time. I am going to seat and think (not too much because it hurts).

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

So it comes down to the Chiefs/Colts, eh, JBD? Personally, I favor the Colts, but I'm thinking the Chiefs will run right through 'em. Best of luck to ya!
I noticed that as well. I guess we'll know by Saturday night who moves on to the next round. I'm a bit worried about how the Colts will handle Johnson, but I think that their offense can quickly make up the difference, especially since the KC secondary isn't that great. Plus, with Herm giving a vote of no confidence in Green, that might have an effect on his play.
It's a bold move, picking the Chiefs and taking the underdog, a move that I admire. Good luck to you as well!

Which do you prefer to snack on, nightcrawlers, grass shrimp, or the reliable chicken livers, while you wait?

People may not remember exactly what you did
or what you said....
~BUT~
they will ALWAYS remember how you made them feel.

So far, I have no indication that air_hog, EA7649, Dangerfield, JPM36, and TincoSkin have heard about Hognostication Bowl II. If anyone knows any of these posters in the real world, please let them know to check the site.

Hail to the Redskins!
While not a part of the real playoff system (and I hope this is not taken as being too pushy
) I thought this was as good a place as any to reveal my selections for this weekend's games
Colts - 48
Pukes - 41
Patriots - 40
Eagles - 44
I would suggest that given how I did in the real competition, nobody will take these too seriously anyway.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

He might be far too intimidated to show up.
air_hog has a first round bye, so he has another week to check in. JPM36 and Dangerfield are playing each other, so that contest may come down to who shows up first. TincoSkin and EA7649 are in serious danger of forfeiting their wild-card games, giving RiC and Justice first round byes, also.
