Trade Sean Taylor

Post by GoSkins »

He is a very good player, BUT he over commits and is way out of position on lots of plays. We should be able to get a #1 and #2 for him. Use those picks plus our own #1 on defense; DL, LB, and CB.

No that would be a dumb decision for the team to make. Sean had a bad year due to his own mistakes and the mistakes of the coaching.

The coaches screwed withthe chemistry back there.

Vincent

3 different guys plus the loss of Springs. The ENTIRE defense looks bad. You dont get rid of a guy with potential like that. He's not the problem. The front office and the coaches take the wrap for this seaosn.

Put down the drugs, people. No one is going to give us a 1 and 2 for Sean Taylor. :roll:

And just to be clear, he needs to be kept. I agree with CLL; Taylor is talented, and the whole defense was a mess. Taylor just tried to overcompensate for the other deficiencies of the secondary.

This guy had two great years for us. Then he has a bad year and everyone wants to get rid of him. That is whats wrong with this team in the 1st place. We get rid of our good players and bring someone elses trash in to continue the mediocre seasons.

Its not like we had the #1 defense and he was the ONLY person screwing up. Every POSITION screws up. Every position is dependent on the others.

"Everyone wants to get rid of him"? I don't think so, Chris.

This really belongs with the Trade Portis thread, in a whole new forum called "Clutching at Straws". Taylor has not played well this year, for sure, and I'm on record as not being that keen just to give him a free pass for compensating for everybody else. But the guy has the potential for greatness, and I don't think you ever trade away somebody with that kind of talent. Sort out the players around him, but definitely do not trade away one of the very few good young defensive players that we have.

You don't build for the future by trading away players that have a future.

Get the kid some help and some coaching. Remember, he is still a relatively young guy in this league that still needs coaching. If you continue to screw with the chemistry in the secondary and surrounding him with guys that can't cover, he will continue to press and try and make plays that will often times put him out of position.

He is fine where he is. The only option that I see is to coach him up and move him to SS and place Springs at FS. Taylor at SSS will definitely utilize his talents as a "hard-hitter"... Springs at FS will enable him to get a few more years under his belt because he will have the speed to definitely cover TEs and RBs and on occassion, WRs.....

I would not trade Taylor. Rather, I would get a legitimate MLB. From what I have seen, Taylor moves up into where the MLB should be because no one is there..

Yes it should, in fact Taylor should be apart of any Portis trade. That's sure to bring a bunch of draft picks.

We shouldn't stop there either, next we can package Jason Campbell and Santana Moss for even more picks.

We proved that Carter and Randle-El are play makers of the future so I'm sure grouping the two of them together will bring in something.

Before you know it we'll have a third of the picks in the first round of this years draft. I don't know how we'll pay them with all the dead cap as a result of the trades but we can cross that bridge when we get to it. :twisted:

Ya, let's somehow get rid of Snyder, fire all the coaches, and trade away all the players. :roll:

Great idea. :roll: What the #$!@! is wrong with you people?

Let's see.

Taylor = 1st and 2nd round picks
Moss= 1st and 2nd round picks
Campbell= 2 st round picks
Randel El and Carter = 1st round pick
Portis= 1st and 2nd round pick
We already have a first round pick

We should be able to get 7 1st round picks and 3 2nd round picks
We'll have to give up a first round pick to get someone to take Brunell

Equals 6 1st round picks and 3 2nd round picks

And we'll still have the worse team in the conference

You want to get rid of a player as talented as Taylor when he's all of 23 years old??

I'm gonna bite my tongue and just say that I disagree.

I wonder what kind of picks we could get trading our draft picks.

last time I checked this isn't baseball... you can't trade away an entire team and still make a run at the playoffs... but then again we have shown over and over again you can't get there the way we do it either so..... too many new years drinks my head hurts.... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well what more would you expect out of the "Worst Team" in the "Best Division"

ST, when I see him playing somewhere that I wouldn't normally expect him to be, looks like he's trying to make up for two or three other guys who are out of position trying to cover where one or two other guys should've been, but were hurt.
ST is trying to be all things to all people, and if you look at it optimistically...at least he's not being selfish.
No, I wouldn't trade him. I'd surround him with mature, healthy players who'll let him focus on his own job...which is 'murder'. :)

OK. OK. I'm a glutton for punishment but here goes. Our biggest weakness is the DL/DE, MLB, and one CB. We need to get a minimum of 4 starters at those positions. We effectively can get only one starter thru the draft. Who is available in FA that can help us at these positions besides Clements at CB? Who can start for us on the DL/DE and MLB? Would it not make sense to at least explore a trade to get much needed top draft picks; or a starter(s) for that matter? Springs will likely move to safety. My view is safety is a relatively low priority position relative to CB, MLB, and DL. Sean Taylor is an enforcer BUT only after the offensive player is downfield; which means our opponent already has gained yardage on us. If we can get real value for Sean Taylor I would do it; assuming the FA market doesn't have players who fit our D needs.
