ROTFALMAO & wrong but thankfully you have nothing to do with talent evaluation for the Redskins - we love Betts and he will be great but he will never be as good for our team as Portis.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Way to back up your argument. I said Denver didn't have anyone as good as Betts when they traded Portis. You found that funny. SO who did Denver have?Mike Anderson or somebody? I mean really. If anyone shouldnt have traded Portis it was Denver. He actually fit their system and rushed for around 2000 yards there every year.

When the Broncos traded Portis they had Rueben Droughns, who is a better running back than Ladell Betts. In 2004, replacing Portis, he ran for over 1200 yards.

Reuben has had some issues...while I'm not sure if he's better than Betts but I sure would take Betts over him. Ladell can return kicks and has good hands.

Depth at the position is why you don't trade him. Plus, I'm probably the only one on this board that isn't COMPLETELY sold on Betts.

I like Betts a great deal but I have concerns about his propensity to fumble at the end of long runs. I like him MUCH better as the second option in a 1-2 punch, Portis is an elite runner. It's important to remember how the O-line played when Portis was healthy versus now.

If you mean you think he sucks and we don't realize it, then you may be the only one.

If you mean you are not convinced he's as good as CP and the running back of our future, then you are I am sure in the majority.

This thread is silly. CP every year of his carreer (except this injury one) run for 1300 yards and over 1500 every other year but one. He was injured this year running down an int in the first exhibition game, real heart. Betts has run for 100 yards for 4 games.

It's my belief the ones saying Betts is the greatest and we should trade CP are the ones who are pining for the nobody Ryan Clark who can't beat out a rookie and his backup and the slow learner hot dog LaVar. They will be the ones calling for heads for trading CP if we listened to them and traded him and gave Betts the job when Betts turns out to be OK but no CP.

Thanks Fios - that is part of it - I like Betts a lot too I just think we have a good thing developing here and Betts is going to be a part of it but Portis is the better of the two. I am looking forward to seeing this group (hopefully still the same) next year and playing like this with both Portis and Betts available.

We did not see the offensive group play this well together in the first half of the season.

I understand why someone can think that we have Betts and might want to get something for Portis but I just cannot believe that another team will give us what Portis is worth to us. I do not think RBs are all that valuable to some teams and, IMO, Portis is more than just an elite running back to this team.

My apologies for the name calling - I do not appreciate being called names

I'm in the second line of thinking, of course. Not completely sold on him being the premeire back.

Oh no you're not. I'm not even close to being sold on Betts. I like the guy, but look at what's changed since Betts got the nod.

We now have a QB that can and will throw downfield.
The line is actually finally starting to block, something they forgot since the offseason.
Defenses are not stacking the box to stop Betts, like they did for Portis.

We arn't trading anyone unless we get a hell of a pick or a really good player. I just don't see it happening.

I say we just keep it a 2 running back offense for next year. Lbs and Cp can share carries next year giving defenses a reason to fear the running game alot.

But a defense that has been struggling alot. Shaun rogers in the other hand would give us a deadly DT combo just like the jags are doing. Who needs portis if we got betts cartright and we can just re sign T.J ducket for the heck with it. We got weapons in our offense and us being 4th rank in rushing i say trade portis. Nah who am i kidding. Maybe if they add roy williams or kevin jones and we add brandon Lyod i think we can get this deal all sraithen out.

If Ladell started at Runningback for us, we might be lucky enough to see a fumble from him every game!

Exactly!! He is not a premeire back. I like the one-two punch!

Betts is not a premeire back which is why I am saying the skins should trade him. His value will NEVER be higher than it is right now. We would be able to find someone who is effective behind Portis to carry the ball a few times a game, Rock, Manuel White, late round draft pick, etc. (It happens all the time in the NFL, happened with Betts) The reason I trade Betts is because of a point Champsturf made.

ANYONE could run through the holes our o-line is creating now. They are playing at a much higher level since Campbell got in there. Our o-line is playing much the way they played at the end of last year, which is why we went to the playoffs. 2 things I have seen from him that lead me to believe he is not a top back is, he has not been able to get yards when the game is on the line (Tampa Bay and St. Louis). He also puts the ball on the ground often. Not only does he put the ball on the ground, but it is usually a game changing fumble (Tampa Bay, St. Louis) Portis takes the St. Louis fumble to the house BTW. While I like him a great deal, he is not the premiere back everyone wants to make him all of the sudden.

Is it reasonable to say Portis is the face of the team right now? When you say "Redskins" what current player do people think of first? He's one of the top 5 backs in the league and a fan-favorite. You build a team around a guy like that, not trade him for picks and FA's as soon as his stock is high enough.

I love Betts and the way he fights every down for an extra yard or two, but he's not going to carry the team. Will teams respect Rock or Nemo if Betts goes down? With Portis and Betts we can put RB into the "solved" category and worry about other problems.

Betts is averaging 4.7 ypc this year. Portis is averaging 4.1, and only averaged 4.3 last year, and 3.8 the year before that. In Denver, he averaged 5.5 yards per carry twice. Which goes along with what i have been saying the whole time. He does not fit the redskins running scheme. He has no patience. He has no instincts. He misses holes. He is not a smart runner. He is very talented, but he has not displayed it here like he did in denver, because he is not the type of runner that can run behind big blockers. He is one of Shanahan's system runningbacks that are overrated. Look at what happened to reuben droughns after he left denver. Look at what happened to Mike Anderson after he left Denver. It is the system, not the backs. Portis is the best of that bunch, but he is overrated and should be traded because it is possible to get more than he is worth in return. I'm not sure Betts would get what he is worth on the open market. He has 47 receptions for 400 yards to go along with over a thousand rushing when he has been a BACKUP for half the season. PORTIS IS NOT SO MUCH BETTER THAN BETTS LIKE EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD SEEMS TO ASSUME ALL THE TIME WITHOUT ACTUALLY THINKING.
