hey, lets lose out baby! we should just stop trying i mean really. lets play our starters 3 quarters and let the C team play the 4th. we cant afford any injuries and Gaines Adams will not go to a 7-9 team. that is if we can even reach 7-9. i've been a Gibbs loyalist forever but his time is up, last year was great and he *f$ck* everything up...fire Gibbs and his entire staff, hire a badass coach that doesnt take crap like Bill Cower if not Bill himself. and for god's sake get a real GM!!! it just amazes me how this team went from pretty damn good in 05, to !omfg you're worse than the Titans!! in 1 season...hear me Danny boy?!!?

I think that at this point you have to start giving the younger players a chance...i.e. Rocky. Clearly there is no chance of the playoffs but you still have to play hard and try to improve for next season. One important thing that they have to do is decide on the type of offense that they are going to run. What we have seen this season is an unworkable mix of Joe Gibbs football and Al Saunders' offense. Pick one and start making it work becuase our offense has no identity whatsoever right now.

this team has had no pride whatsoever all season long. i don't see why or how they can start playing for it now (though obviously you don't lose on purpose just to get a better draft pick).
let them just keep playing, and keep being the cluster of extremely-poorly-coached bumbling morons that they are, and keep losing. the draft pick will work itself out.

What is the point in a statement like this? I've knocked a lot of the play and disagreed with decisions and questioned some of the personel choices. You can argue those. But why make sweeping, unsubstantiatable statements like this? What purpose does it serve?

the purpose is to express the explicitly warranted disgust at a team that consistenly finds new details to screw up, new ways to piss games away, new ways to be sickeningly pathetic, yet no solutions to the slew of ongoing problems. do the individual players on the team have pride? probably, i would hope so, i would think so.
does the team as a whole, as its own entity, have any pride?
absolutely no way!
this team is a loser this year, plain and simple.
Play to win. Always. Playing to lose just teaches losing.
Remember that a high draft pick guarantees nothing. Leaf? Crouch? Shuler? Dilfer? Beban? Spurrier (yes, a monster flop as am NFL player, too)? Mira?
The draft is chancy.
In 1980, The Jets traded two first round picks to get one of the top two, and picked Johny "Lam" Jones, the fireball WR from Texas. The Redskins used their middle-pack (10-6 record) pick for Art Monk.
Is there a debate on those two?
For anyone obsessed with statistics, see Art Monk's careeer at:

Guys, we can still win the division: see the Hog Wash post STILL ALIVE
It's really not inconcieve-able if we win out and dallas loses out and we both finish 8-8, and guess who'd have a better NFC EAST RECORD, us.
Besides the idea of intentionally losing is just the wrong message and it sure as heck is not Joe Gibbs.

You have got to be joking.

I would continue to play hard but if we lose one more, then I'd start using those last games as auditions for jobs and let Al Saunders really open up his book of tricks to see who can play in it and who can't and really work with JC so that at the start of next season, he knows more of this offense and what is expected and we hit the ground running next September at QB.
I wouldn't roll-over in order to get picks. If the playoffs become a forgone conclusion, which appears to be the case now, then use this time as "practice" so-to-speak and coach guys up and work things. Sit these guys down and start putting correcting things now and lead then into the off-season with the mind-set that, come the start of OTA's and camps next year, this is what is expected and this is how we are going to do things from here out....

You can have pride and screw up. How can you justify that pathetic statement by giving us examples of things that people with pride cannot do? A team with pride can screw up details and piss away games and have ongoing problems by being bad, which is what this team has been. Tell us what they do that teams without pride cannot.

Watch the games, look at the players faces, look at how they play. Teams are not proud of losing at home to weak teams. Teams are not proud of under-achieving.

I agree that teams that are proud of underachieving have a pride issue.
So....
How are the Skins proud of what they've accomplished? Everything I've heard is they are not proud of what they have done, so show me what you are looking at that says they are.
Nobody plays "for a draft pick" or without trying to win.
These are NFL players and I think that every time they are involved on the field they better be doing everything they can to be the best they can be. That is not to say they are proud of what is going on - I'm sure these Redskins players are not but they are NFL players and we are not going to see anyone here next year if the coaches get any idea that any of these guys are "playing for a draft pick" - that is truly an amazing thing to think is possible - I mean any NFL Player from any era would say to you that to be on a field and not playing your best is a recipe for disaster.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
