Plaque

Post by Steve Spurrier III »

I'm looking to buy my father a sign or plaque for Christmas that either says "Built in 19XX" or just "19XX". The year doesn't really matter, although the older the better.

Anyone have any ideas where to find one? Ebay hasn't been very useful.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You mean you want to actually find an old trophy, or that you want to have one made with whatever you want on it?

If you're just looking for some old trophies... I probably have one I can give you... I think my trophies only go back to 1976 or 1977 though... don't know if I have any nice plaques you could use though (well not that I'd give up anyway )

Let me know what you're looking for.

I'm having a hard time explaining it (I can't even find a picture online to show what I'm talking about). I'm looking for an old sign or plaque that has a year on it ("Built in 1977" or just "1977"). I'm not going to have a custom one made.

I'm not sure what you mean by trophy - I'm looking for something he can put on the outside of a shed, so it looks as though the shed was built in that year, if that makes any sense.

You're talking about a cornerstone plaque. It's not likely that you'll find one unless the building it was on was razed.
Best best? Google "cornerstone plaque" or visit the local headstone engraver, who has that sort of thing all over the shop.
Might be better than winding up with BH's third place Canadian Shuffleboard trophy from the Pierre Trudeau years.

You may also want to do a search (either eBay or Google) for 'architectural salvage'. There are lots of shops that collect pieces from old buildings and sell them for a ton of dough to unsuspecting rich folks who are looking for an authentic claw foot tub or or stained glass window or something.
