The Skins are the most underrated team in football.

The skins may be underated simply because of the talent level not with your big name starters, but with the back ups and role players. Also because of the revolving door that Synder keeps opening and closing. Even though Coach Gibbs is a proven coach, still alot of people are doubting his player personnel skills.

Continuity has alot to do with winning, also players ability to go above and beyond. Gibbs has to change the mentallity of the players , and turn the players lives into nothing but football 24/7. Which IMO he has yet to start.

For being a Cowboy fan, Gambit somehow still seems to eloquently write:

Even though Coach Gibbs is a proven coach, still alot of people are doubting his player personnel skills.

If you look at the history of Joe Gibbs, you will never....and I mean NEVER see/read/hear any story about anyone doubting his player personnel skills.

Gambit, if you know of any source out there that illustrates this "doubt" you speak of, please post it. I would certainly like to challenge the credibility of any author that does so.

it's funny you mention this, because last night the nfl network had a bunch of those 'hard knocks: baltimore ravens training camp 2001' episodes on. in one episode, their running backs coach was trying to instill this same idea of thinking about football 24/7. he used an example of when you're in a restaurant or something, and there are two waitresses coming towards you, you should be thinking 'which one will i have to pick up on the blitz?'. it was very funny, but true.

omigod, it is a complete life saver. for me, this time of year is like crawling through the desert. the nfl network isn't an oasis by any means, but it's certainly a nice big canteen of kool aid!

Justice Hog let me give you an example, Now this is just my opinion on what i see and hear......

When Parcells took over in Dallas, he immediatly had a meeting with all the players, then with the players one on one, he also made lots of rule changes, and changed alot of signage in the facility. Now i got all this information from news articles and all over the net, and from players. Parcells came in and immediatly laid down a list of places the players better not be caught in or it would jepordize their positions on the team.

So from being up here in DC, living in DC working in VA I still have not gotten the same type of info that I would be expecting from Gibbs to do. Everything that i have read on Parcells and Gibbs would have led me to believe that Gibbs would come in and kinda do the same like Parcells did to try to turn around the losing mentality of the organization.

Also from my knowledge Bobby Beathered was a major decision maker in the Gibbs/Cooke era, and that he was mainly responsible for assembling the talent Gibbs need for the team.

Yes he did win more superbowls, but we are talking about that youngster, but if you wanna go there.......its easy to win superbowls in that ERA....this is a new day...and we all can to agree atheletes these are alot more money oriented.

You see this is where I belive you are wrong. It was Charlie Casserly who brought in the talent but usually Gibbs was the one who requested the talent.

Nope - for the most part Casserly was not with Gibbs. Beathard was the man bringing in the talent for Gibbs. Proof? Casserly was in charge of plan B free agency in 1991 under Beathard.

Don't get me wrong...The Tuna from what I heard would sometimes put his hands on players but would usually make them do something such as haul wheel barrows full of rocks around the stadium for no reason other than to punish them. If they refused he would bench them.

Monk was such a pleasure to watch on the field. His strick was graceful. I don't think anyone did a better job. It is a shame that he isn't in the HOF yet. I know he wasn't the most pleasent person to the reporters but DAMN, Monk was a private man that didn;t like talking about himself. I think the only reason he isn't in the HOF yet is because the reporter are mad at him for not talking to him. Can't a man have a private life. HOF should be based on performance, and not a popularity contest. Monk was the career leading receive for many year. He had a couple of 90 and 100 receptions years when a good year would be 70 and the league at that time was a running league not a passing league like now. He was a primier receiver that defenses would always try to create a scheme to neutulize him.

Gambit, I hear ya what you're saying about Parcells...but I'm still waiting for your source(s) "doubting" Gibbs' player personnel skills. If I were a betting man, I would bet that you would find none.

Like your boy, Bill, I expect Gibbs will come in and clean house in his own way...and get the players' respect in his own way. Unlike Spurrier (who didn't even know who the heck was playing for him), Gibbs will bring a refreshing change to this team...and....

he is actually KNOWN for his EXCELLENT player personnel skills.

Here are some quotes to illustrate my point:

Just because Gibbs isn't approaching his comeback just like Parcells did doesn't mean anything. If there was one right way of doing things, coaching would be easy and everyone would do it.

Gibbs and Parcells are very similar coaches, but at the same time very different. Because their careers have taken such different paths, it is hard to determine which one is the better coach, but I think it is reasonable to say that they, along with Bill Walsh, are among the top three coaches of the modern era.

I can't wait for next season because while the Redskins may not make the playoffs, we are going to see some good football. With all the old-school, blue collar coaches and the influx of high-profile players (Kearse, Owens, Keyshawn, Portis, Brunell, etc.), it is going to be a great season...
