First of all, Kudos to Jeff. Nice find.
Secondly, this topic is gonna get moved to "Around The League", but not before I get my 2 cents in.
Joe Gibbs wants team-first, character guys on his squad. Sapp doesn't even begin to meet that requirement. Add to that that Williams never really showed any interest in a guy that cares about nothing but his sacks totals (i.e. Bruce Smith, last year) and you have a total washout. There was no interest in Sapp on our team from the coaches standpoint, and I have to throw my lot in with them. I'll never forget his antics in '99 when the Bucs took us out of the playoffs or his bs with running through the pre-game warmups that got LA so worked up.
Let's see Norval work his magic with yet another "Ten Years Ago" Pro Bowl Roster.
Watch. Deion comes out of the booth for this team. You heard it first right here.

I think Warren will do fine. He is better than anything we had in the last ten years. I dont care what these guys do off the field or before kickoff.
I am a fan. I dont sit around worrying about some guys personality. Thats left for the media to do because that is what they get paid to do. All I want is a guy who will help us win. I want a guy who puts up the numbers no matter what he says before a game. I look at the big picture not the frame that in cases it.
To the guys who do worry, you dont read about Warren argueing with coaches, beating on wives, or beating ppl up at your local Ihop. The Only thing you can argue is the running through the other teams warmup. He has been doing that for years. Nobody....nobody said anything until Arrington commented on it. Now all the sudden everyone hates Sapp.
except Arrington

redskincity- Before you bestoy sainthood upon Warren, just remember that becuase you or someone else likes a player doesnt mean the rest of us need to conceed. I have never liked Sapp, stemming back to his collegiate days at Miami. Part of me being a fan is that I do care about what players do on and off the field. For you see, that is the whole picture and that is what I look at. I am not saying your view is bad, just different than mine and perhaps others on here. I, for one, am VERY glad that we passed on Sapp. It is my guess that our current coaches werent enamored by him either or he most likely be wearing burgundy and gold next season. For that matter, it doesnt look like a lot of teams were sold of how much is left in Sapp's tank based on him being on the market with few serious offers from teams with cap room and a need for defensive line help.

I am also glad Sapp is not coming to Washington. While He might have a year or 2 of okay ball left in Him, His best years are behind Him. The baggage Sapp would bring to the lockerroom would not be worth it. I'm glad He's with the Grayders er Raiders.

Wingman, Redskinscity never bestoyed sainthood upon Warren, he just said that there were worse people out there. I don't like Sapp either, but he is absolutley right that the worse Sapp does is stupid things like run through stretch lines and run his mouth. It's enough to make me not like him, but it's not enough for me to say the Redskins will never sign him because he isn't a good enough person.
Secondly, his post was not written or constructed in a way that would bully other people into "conceeding" his view is the only correct one.
All that being said, I am glad we didn't sign him, but he would have brought the pass rush we needed. Hopefully we will address this through the draft or yet still through free agency, because relying on the linebackers alone for pass rush is going to be trouble. It might work for three quarters of the game, but we are going to be in a position, often, where the linebackers are going to drop into coverage and we will need pressure to be brought from the defensive line.
On a side note, with Ted Washington and Warren Sapp, the Raiders are going to have an outstanding defensive tackle combonation. These two are going to complement each other perfectly...

I'm bored, I'm broke, and I'm back.
You know, sometimes I cringe a little when the antics get out of hand. It seems so, "In Your Face" to pull out a Sharpie and sign a ball, or to make a phone call from the end zone after a score, or to dance through the other teams pregame warmups. You see, when I was coming up, an individual might've scored by crossing the goal line, but it was the team effort that got him there. "He" didn't score, the team scored. (Or, in Mr. Sapp's case, sacks the QB. He goes so far as to have a Website called qbkilla, in which he not only lists who he sacked this week, but who the next "victim" will be.) It seems so out of place to speak for the team with your one-man circus act.
So, I do value the quiet, unassuming player of days gone by. I do value a well-rounded, team-first guy who doesn't unduly attract attention to himself. I know I can't always get one of those, and I admit to maybe smiling a little when Manley got to going. I was always proudest, though, of Monk and those like him. Whether scoring the touchdown or just making a tough catch, you hand the ball back to the ref. No chest-thumping, no thumb drawn slowly across the throat, no "Hulk-A-Mania" muscle-flexing. Maybe, once in a while, you and your team mates get together in the end zone for a group "high-5".
If those days are gone, that's fine. But if you don't already have one of these sideshows on your team, why bring one in ? You're never going to get them to tone it down, and Joe is a toned-down kind of guy.

Hey Wingman read what Steve Spurrier III said he pretty much summed up what I was talking about just alittle smoother

That's fine redskincity. On a players overall (off field and on field personality) value to a team, we can just agree to disagree. I see your point but when you say that you look at the "big picture and not frame that encases it", it sounds like if that was the case you too would have elected to pass on bringing Sapp aboard. Either way, its cool. It is a mute point anyway since he is now on the other end of the country.
