You Be the Judge: Why did we sign Archuleta??

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

What was the Plan in signing Archuletta for 30 million?

To Start at Strong Safety: We expected him to thrive in our agressive system.

Prioleau came into the year as the starter alongside Taylor with Springs and Rogers on the corners. AA would be like a nickle or dime S. Peirson went down and Archuleta was bumped up to a spot that he hadn't signed to play and probably got little work at in the off-season.

So how can you say I didn't put his choice in there, when Option 2 is HIS WORDs Verbatim. :moon:

Rigged??? You're pathetic...you can only vote once genius. Ever occur to you that no one else agrees with that nonsense. You should consider it b/c I had better things to do on a Friday night than rig the poll.

Is that how you do it? When you lose...just say the winner rigged it?

Look dude, I'm dropping out of this because no matter how many times your talking points are addressed you go back to them. No matter how many times you're told you are misquoting others you stay with the misquote.

So these are my last points on this discussion.

- I voted once personally, no idea where your paranoia came from on that

- Nice to hear you had better things to do on a Friday, I was seriously concerned you didn't, it's hard for beligerant people to have better things to do then hang on their computer all night.

- Regarding your "Ever occur to you that no one else agrees with that nonsense." is severe insecurity. Why do you need others to validate your opinion? I think what I think. And you have no basis to make that claim, you just need it so you assume it.

- Finally, I say you rigged the vote because as I have already said and you apparently can't process, you pulled a quote from a long chain and said that's his summary position. If you were man enough to tell him to be a man, as you did, you would simply ask him how he wants his position phrased and go man to man. Instead you took the insecure route. He told you that was not how he wanted his view in summary.

I'll let you spend the rest of this conversation how you probably really spent Friday night, alone. Becuase I'm out no matter how many times you want to misquote me or your preferred route of just making up what you want me to have said.

The Hogster wrote:So lets try this again high speed. Starter, or not? I am asking you if he was signed to be a starter or nickle/dime safety. Saying he was signed to pass rush and stop the run does not answer the question.

That's just silly.

You can sign a runningback to start for you, and get the majority of the carries, but have a different running back in on 3rd down for blocking and receiving.

Same thing here. I think AA was signed essentially to be a 2 down player (with some time when the team is on dime defense), with Pierson playing on 3rd down in nickle.

Is a 2 down safety worth the contract he got? Not according to me, but then again...I didn't sign him.

We signed him becuase he sells more jerseys than Ryan Clark and Danny boy hadn't gotten enough mileage out of "Redskins One" yet at that point in the offseason.

I thinkthey signed him to be more physical than clark, when prieleau got hurt, i put alot of pressure on Adam. The defensive scheme chamged all year. Hes a hard hitter, not a cover guy, obviosly, but image taylor or artuletta coming on the safety blitz, but GW never really did that.

I agree with you. The problem is that since Taylor is also a big hitter soft on coverage we really should have been looking for a guy who was strong on coverage to pair with him. This way we have a double deficiency. The other problem was that since Springs was out we needed MORE safety help for the CBs not less.

It's hard to believe our defense was dependent on prieleau. I agree his going out put pressure on the Safties, I just mean I think it would have been an issue anyway, just less of one, had his season not lasted only one play.

we only signed him because we thought he was a good player on a bad team and williams could turn him around, but we can see thats not the case.

I agree with this summation. I think we saw him on film as a talented, agressive hitter, who could be coached better technique in coverage. Maybe it will happen, but one things for sure, the team expected it to happen sooner than it did, and thats why he's on the bench.

Maybe it will but I think that he may be shot-out in terms of confidence. He may not be able to recover from this. Then again, he might get it together in the off-season and come back next year and be what we are paying him to be.....
