Skins' in Michigan?
Greetings to all, I just recently discovered thehogs.net, and I must say that I am very impressed with it all--I'm currently out of the country and starving for anything Redskins.
I have a question similar to a previous post regarding catching the Skins in Iowa: I'm a college student and currently go to school in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I live in a house off campus and am able to catch 2-4 Skins games a year on TV. Although it would be nice to see more, I can't afford the cable packages so that's out of the question. However, I've noticed several venues for catching the Skins via online radio feed--I won't get to hear Sonny and Sam (unfortunately), but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good set up for getting some sort of radio coverage online--for free if possible but if not then for cheap. I know that NFL.com has a service, for instance, but I'm skeptical as to how good it really is--has anyone used this one?
At any rate, I'd just like something better than following the live score on ESPN.com (which I ended up doing most Sundays).
Thanks a lot.

The Skins play the Lions in Michigan this year. That could be one to go to. I think DirectTV is your best option. Not too sure about this, so I'll leave it up to the guys.
Welcome to the board. From one Anne Arundel County comrade to another.
I live in that stupid little town just a few miles south of Annapolis.

I'm not sure about Sirrus, not sure if the new "NFL Network" is in your area either. I can't get it but that isn't saying much for my cable company

I have travelled the net and found the Redskins promise land. This is, by far, the best site out there for Redskins/NFL News, Notes, Opinions, and so much more.

Yes, I suppose doing the Sports Bar thing might be the best option. Here's hoping we get a couple more prime time (not Deon) games this year, it was dissapointing to not have any Monday night games this past season--though there is probably little incentive for the NFL to hook us up after a 5-11 season. . .

FFA- The NFL radio broadcasts aren't bad. I live all the way over in Salem, OR and I can relate to your dilemma. Last year I think it was $45.00 for the season. What I used to do was go to game center, bring up the playing field, watch the little ball go up and down the field, watch the play by play on theside and listen to the radio broadcast online. Sometimes kind of cheesy. But as a last resort..... Well we fans will do what we have to do sometimes.

Would if I could afford it, Geepz, but you gotta remember that I'm just a poor college kid. . .
I will say that I had my dad tape all of the games that I missed and only keep the wins, so that when I came home on winter holiday I got to watch a couple of Redskins victories (too bad there weren't more). Till I get a real job instead of studying for a living, it looks like NFL radio will have to do it for me.
