Leftwitch wants to be a Redskin.

Post by JPFair »

I don't have a link, but on the NFL Network, Adam Shefter said that Byron Leftwitch wants out of Jacksonville, and that the only two teams he want's to go to are the Redskins and the Bears. I know he won't go to Chicago, and the Redskins are the team that he used to go to RFK and sneak in to see.

I'm sure there are going to be rumors that he's going to come to the Redskins, we get rid of Brunell, and Campbell starts with Leftwitch backing him up.

Let her rip!
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

doubt it, he probably wants out of jax if he has actually been displaced as the starter, which isnt totally true yet, and if it is, that means he wants to leave so he can be a starter somewhere else, and being a backup to jason campbell is not what he would wanna do

I would love to have Byron here. Why backup? He could start! Well, I'd give JC and Byron equal value...and the two would fight to get the starting job.
Washington would finally be free of MBrunell!

It would be Brunell's worst nightmare, for sure. How many NFL QB's have been run out of town by the same man on two different teams?

No, No, and No!! Let's learn from our free agent "splashes", not repeat them. Let's get Campbell ready to start for the next 10+ years, and not pay 30mil to his backup. My 2 cents
Taylor and Landry will take no Prisoners!! - I just can't bring myself to delete it!

We don't need him. He hasn't played well at all this year when he was starting.

It's partly the Skins fault he doesn't have the starting job anymore.
Del Rio informed him today that Garrard would be the #1 QB for the remainder of the year, after having him listed as Probable last week he was told on Wednesday that he wouldn't be playing. It all started when a reporter asked him about his ankle after Texans game and he said he had hurt his ankle in the Redskin game. That made it sound like Del Rio was hiding something from the injury report and made the front office look bad and force them to answer questions. In the end Leftwich had never told anyone he was hurt and that pissed the coach off too. From what I'm hearing he could have played Sunday if needed.

QB maybe a issue but Lefty ain't the answer

...and, oh- ...Don't try going under the fence for a freebie in on Danny's field. He'll have you shot.
The days where you could sneak in are long gone, Byron. :)

At least Mark Brunell's age mitigates the severity of our current 'quarterback controversy' in Washington. I can't imagine how bad the fighting would get with 2 young, seemingly capable quarterbacks on the roster, especially when our starter begins to struggle.

If Leftwhich comes to town, it would be at a fairly high price. If Byron started here, there would continue to be (justified) whining about how we used 3 draft picks to get Campbell and he's still on the bench. If Campbell plays instead, there will be all kinds of (justified) whining that we paid a ton to get Leftwhich in town but made him sit on the bench.

It would be lose/lose for the Redskins organization, IMO. Imagine the Jeff George / Brad Johnson debate except 10 times worse. Maybe it's fated to be, though, as Washington has always been a great QB controversy town.

Agreed. That sums it up for me. Don't want him. I actually think Brunell would be a solid back-up for Campbell.

I'd like to see something from Cambell before we decide anything on the QB of the future. The guy still has no regular season experience. I hear he will be good... but who knows? Hopefully he'll see at least 6 quarters of play before the season is over so we have something to evaluate him on. Is that too much to ask?

Ditto. I want to see Campbell in there now. If he shows too little, we'd know to grab somebody else. The idea of going with Brunell next year is absolutely unthinkable. We're in a jam, so don't rule anything out.

I'm just afriad that by the time Campbell gets his turn, the season will be lost and the rest of the team will be unmotivated. Especially if the team knows they are out of the playoff picture.

NO! His QB rating this year is 79. He has absolutely no mobility and gets injured a lot. Even though he's "90%" healthy, and he's "the face of the franchise" in Jacksonville, he has lost his starting job to a career backup.

Hey, don't dump on career backups. JC is one of them.

Plus, Damon Huard is looking kinda nice right now, and wasn't he a "career backup"? My 2 cents

Garrard ain't no slouch.

If a QB, for instance Garrard, is named as the starter for an NFL team, how is he considered a career backup?

Gentleman, how can we consider bringing in another free agent who cannot even hold onto the starting job on the team he is currently on? We need consistency and familiarity which means we should keep the guys we have now and let them battle it out in training camp next year. The offense we have is complicated enough for our own guys, but now we want someone to come in next year to start learning the offense from scratch? We cannot afford that...we need progress.

If we didn't have Campbell, I'd be all for it. But right now...that would be a slap in Campbell's face..he deserves his shot before Left-foot.

No more injured Jacksonville QB's (although I do think he could be successful in this offense).
SPIT HAPPENS!!

What about Trent Green?
He knows AS offense very well & KC might not need him soon.

He looked pretty good against us if I remember correctly, but yes, otherwise, he's been inconsistent, and what would such a move do to JC's confidence, if we bring in yet another QB? NO on Leftwich.
