Re: brad johnson
First NFL week he beats us with a gutsy performance and he is a genius and the Redskins sily to let him go. Seven weeks later, he loses a game and the Skins are vindicated.die cowboys die wrote:anyone else watching this game and thinking "oh yeah- THAT'S why i/we wanted to get rid of this guy"?

Minny has been playing much better than -anybody- expected this season. NE's defense is solid and they had a better game plan than Minny had. NE has been playing better after every game this season. Why does a loss have always to be put on the shoulders of the QB? This is a game of matchups. Does a bad game plan not count as well?
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

The gameplan only matters insofar as it concerns who is starting at QB, just like we can tell how well a head coach is performing by how well his choice of quarterback is doing. Same principle applies to defense, running backs, special teams, and receivers (except when WRs play well, it isn't credited to the QB; it's credited to YAC. Apply only when the WRs are not having good games).

Good point. I saw part of the game last night (including 2 of the INTs), and while it wasn't Johnson's best game by any stretch, he, and the rest of that team, are still doing better than we are. And he wasn't afraid to take some shots downfield as well. NE is just flat-out a good team, and they'd probably beat us just as bad as they beat Minn.

I disagree. The QB is -part- of the game plan but the plan does not only take into consideration his position. Teams had game plans designed to address RBs like Barry Sanders or WRs like Jerry Rice.Irn-Bru wrote:The game plan only matters insofar as it concerns who is starting at QB,
Easy cheap shot these days, as veiled as it might be. Could the sentence not be reformulated to state that:Irn-Bru wrote:... just like we can tell how well a head coach is performing by how well his choice of quarterback is doing.

Yes, it starts with him. It is not a cliché. My point is that the QB -alone- can not be blamed for Minny's loss or the losses of any other teams. Baltimore managed to win a Superbowl with one of the crappiest offenses, let alone QBs, in the history of the NFL.

I was trying to be ironic with my post, RiC, and agree with your assessment.

Sorry that there were no smiley-guys to accompany that post and reveal my joking intentions.

Nuh-Uh, you cannot change your story now. Just like Brad Johnson was great when he bet us and now he stinks cause he didn't beat NE, you were great with your intuitive responses regarding the spread of blame and now you think its all the qb's problem.Irn-Bru wrote:Redskin in Canada wrote:I disagree. They get a little credit but having the best QB in the league helps A LOT! Don't
