My hope for the Redskins

Post by dcoles11 »

At 2-5 it is hard for me to be optomistic about our chances of having a successful season. I know we went on a tear and the end of last year to make the playoffs but I just don't see it this year.

Last year we had a great defense, if you can play defense you'll be in most every game you play, which was true of our Skins last year. Our defense this year is completely out of sink, I think injuries have alot to do with it.

My hope is that at some point Campbell gets in there and he shows alot of promise. I'm sure he will struggle at times but I hope he shows enough to where we'll all be excited going into the off-season knowing that he is really close to being good.

In the off-season Campbell continues to learn the offense, maybe work with some of the recivers to get familiar with one another.

Some how sure up the defense and get it back to where it was. I'm a firm believer that a good D-line cause the secondary to be better and a good secondary causes the D-line to better.

If a QB is constantly being hurried the secondary is odviously going thrive. With a good secondary the QB has to go through his options giving the D-line time to creat sacks and hurried passes.

I think we attemped to do that this off-season with the signing of Carter but that hasn't worked out so well

If Campbell turns out to be good and progresses by playing some this year and having an off-season under his belt as the known starter and we can sure up the defense I think we will all be highly excited for the 2007 season with the weapons we possess on offense.

2007 could be a great year if these hopes of mine are realized.

The Skins win their 4th title, Gibbs can ride off into the sunset with another Super Bowl and the knowledge that he is leaving the team in great shape with a young QB that will prosper for years.

A guy can dream can't he

P.S.
I wouldn't be upset if we had a crazy turn around and won it all this year haha.

The one thing that could happen this season that was sweeten a sour season for me, would be if they beat the Panthers, i'm a North Carolina Skins fan and i'm disgusted with how many ex-Redskin now Panther fans there are. Lets make our record 7-1 vs the Carolina Kitty Kats!
We won a Super Bowl with Jay Schroeder (Doug Williams) and Mark Rypien, why not with Ramsey or Brunell =)

You sound like you are giving up ... You didn't last year, it was do or die then (we aren't there yet).

I think GW can turn this around during the bye, Rogers and Springs haven't been available at the same time since Seattle. Marcus Washington will have had had two weeks as well as Griff and Big Joe. During this time the guys that have been forced into starting roles will get a better understanding of what is expected (after their trials by fire). Pre-season depth charts will be back intact for the first time all year (minus PP). Vincent will be a upgrade over AA. Adam will more than likely move over and spell Taylor, sometimes we may see Taylor, Arch and Troy in the game together. That might be a sight to see, but I'm sure we'll see alot of new things with everyone back

I hope to see him when it's time to turn to him and no time sooner

I discuss this in the off season... after the post season.

Maybe he really is a LB

2004 Brunell went into the off-season as they starter and REPLACED Ramsey in game one the following season.

I wouldn't be surprised

I was talking about us beating the Panthers on Nov.26, not Dallas.

Interestingly, this is the most attractive part of your post to me. This is true. One unit has not helped the other for sure.

Look at these posts here for a brief analysis of our pass rush:

http://www.the-hogs.net/forum/viewtopic. ... ht=#286121

The pass rush includes but it is not limited to the front four. It also may include some of our LBs and even a CB or a Safety in Williams' system. I suspect that the main difference between the play of our defense this year compared to last year is not only the performances of each unit or even the individual performances (which admitedly have been poorer, particularly poor tackling and poor pass coverage).

The MAIN difference in my view has been that this is a DIFFERENT playbook system. It would appear that the playbook from last week was thrown away and it was replaced with a completely different book.

If I had a chance, I would ask G. Williams why did the defensive play calling CHANGED so much from one year to the next?
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
