Anyone ever remember...

Post by ChampGreen2428 »

The first time they paid attention to Redskins football?

For me - it was during the Ritchie Petibone era. First game I remember watching on the telly was a 13-6 loss to the Rams...at least that is what I remember. All I remember was that the Redskins were ahead 6-0, then it became 7-6 and then 13-6. I was little so I wasn't paying that close attention.

Very sorry to have missed out the glory years...does it count if you're around but weren't aware?

My apologies for the overly negative post earlier - I am Skins fan, a despondent one at that but I haven't left the bandwagon - I'm not rooting for the Ravens or anything like that. I just look at this team and it seems like a void. There is no one like a Ken Harvey or Brian Mitchell to kick their butts into gear.

Man those were good times, watching Brian Mitchell and Darrell Green, somehow thinking James Washington was significant as was Alvin Harper...who would have thought that they would suck after leaving the Cowboys?

What's the point? I dunno, just asking if anyone remembers the first time they really paid attention to the Redskins. For me, it was some time in 1993.

For me it all started back in 1968- 69 season, A friend of mine growing up was a Cowboy fan, I hated them even then and wanted the Redskins to win all the time, And from back then on i have always loved the Redskins

Nope, not for the life of me. I remember going to the games with my Dad and watching TV with him making all kinds of noise. I remember a lot of Burgundy and Gold. But my the time I realized they were the Redskins I was hooked. Between Lombardi's last year and Austin's first I think.

1967 or 1968 I was either almost 6 or almost 7, this team came on the television, playing against that team from Texas. My grandfather was a huge "pies" fan, but he and I had just finished an argument that resulted in my being grounded, so I started rooting for the team that was playing them, which turned out to be the Redskins, and I've been hooked ever since.

Was a Jets fan..then a Dolphins fan..then a Redskins fan (all within a period of a few weeks)

I was 10 years old and the year was 1983. Cut me some slack, I was just a little runt...who was jumpin from bandwagon to bandwagon. But, I never jumped after the Skins.

since I was born I have been a redskins fan. I can remember sitting with my dad and watching the game. Going to RFK as a kid and having it shake. I remember the 1991 superbowl year. I just wish we could get back to those years. I am 21 so, I have seen most of the bad days but I will be with skins to the end.

I became really aware of the skins the same year Gibbs came to town the first time. Can remember seeing it on the news, just happened to be around the same time I was getting old enough to pay attention to that stuff.

Lucky!

First Redskins game I ever saw was when I went with my uncle to RFK for the first time in 1989. I was 7, the Skins beat the Cardinals and I was hooked forever! I think they had a pretty good year that year?

I was a kid in Maine, and my dad had always been a big Redskins fan, because of Larry Brown.

When I started taking an interest in playing football in the school yard I started watching it too...

Right in time for the Heath Shuler area.
