I posted this elsewhere but its pertinent here......
Look, I respect everyone's opinions and up until this week I was pro-Gibbs and even pro-Brunell but the reality is it will take a miracle to salvage this season. To not go with Campbell is, IMO, wasting each week. We HAVE to see what he's got. We HAVE to find a long-term QB to win here. Think about every team that has been good for the past few years....Eagles & McNabb, Colts & Peyton, Pats & Brady. Hell maybe we could even pull a Steelers and have a great one year run. Either way, I am sick of never having a franchise QB. How great would it be to have a QB we can count on being here every year? The only way we are going to find that is to play Campbell and if he isn't that guy, try again with another young QB, and then again and again until we find someone who will be behind center for a long time. I am so damn sick of this crap.

I totally agree, it's been a LONG time since we had a franchise QB. I was hoping Trent Green was going to be the one and I also hoped Brad Johnson would play the role. What I have never understood is how the Redskins get rid of a player and he goes elsewhere and is a star for many years..... why did we let him go. That QB list reminded me of the two I just mentioned, I thought they both had great potential.

Skins fan since birth!!!

That's 3 times in 3 threads that this has been posted. I'm starting to think your just padding your post count considering I've read it 3 times and it still doesn't make any sense regardless of how many time you post it.

the redskins have a "must win right now" mentality every year. that approach may get in the way of sticking it out and developing a young QB. What's going to happen if JC takes over and plays like crap this year and next year. Are we going to get rid of him only to end up watching him turn into a solid QB for some other team?

If the Redskins had kept Green... who knows what would have happened. Maybe he wouldn't have messed up his leg like he did with the Rams and maybe he wouldn't have found a perfect situation in KC.
In 1998 we had a 28 year old QB who was obviously rising to the top. He'd been on the bench for 5 years but he showed that he had what it took to be an NFL QB in 98.
We just let him go... for reasons I can't even immagine.
He was picked to start for the Rams, hurt himself and went to the Chiefs where he went to two Pro-Bowls and has generally been an above average QB.
Sure, he's no world beater, but he's had a hell of a career.
With Johnson we didn't get him until his 30's... Checkdown Charlie was a darn good QB, and it always boggled my mind why there was a competition between him and the obviously inferior Jeff George. (Even the Japanese knew he sucked, have you ever played Tecmo Super Bowl?)
So pretty much my whole life the Quarterback position of the Washington Redskins has been a mismanaged mess of failed draft picks, guys that could have been and poor personel moves.
Hopefully Campbell can stop this vicious cycle of quarterbacking ineptitude.

I was under the impression that we wanted to keep Green but his FA period coincided with our change in ownership and we couldn't get it together and he ended up signing with the Rams.

I remember Johnson being quite ineffective much of the 2000 season. I also remember George leading us to a huge win vs the Rams in a Monday night game in the middle of that season and almost bringing us back at the very end vs the Giants later on in the year.
Bruce has the authority. When Bruce makes the decision, it's a Redskins decision.

Actually, if Green had stayed with the Skins we might be having nearly the same quarterback contraversy right now.

I'm pretty sure that Johnson had a 7-4 record in the games he started that year.

And don't forget his backup Kent Graham, who came in and led a heroic comeback against Denver in the rain/snow that brought us to 4-5.
Absolutly, that was a great game.

How doesn't it make sense? It doesn't make sense to have a franchise quarterback? A simple PM would have done the job for me to know not to post multiple times but you feel the need to throw your authority around by making sure you call me out on it at each thread. Thanks man....real cool.
