I hate myself for this but
I like Troy Aikmen as an announcer. I need to go take a shower now.

Not only is the the best out there, but he is head and shoulders above anybody IMO.
I used to feel dirty when I said it too, but to be honest, the guy just consistently proves that he's really good at what he does. Excellent insight, never much emotion attached to taint his judgement... just top drawer in my opinion.
When Redskin fans can say that a former Cowboy is their favorite announcer, you kow the guy is doing a phenomenal job.
If I ever have the fortune to meet the man, I would gladly shake his hand and tell him what a fine job I think he does.
I'd cross my toes and spit in my hand first though
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

He's the only announcer that doesn't force me to turn the volume waaayy down. I like hearing crowd noise when I watch games, but most announcers are so bad and overbearing that I can't even put up with them to have the crowd noise too.
Aikman is actually pleasant to listen to, and insightful. I used to hate admiting it too, but I think he's far enough away from his playing career (thanks to Lavar
) that I don't feel very bad saying it anymore.

I never hated Aikman nearly as much as I disliked Irvin...
It was easy to hate guys like Sanders etc... but Aikman and Smith were just guys who weren't amazingly gifted, but were hard workers who got the most from their talents...
Oh God, now I need to shower, ick.

I disagree with your assessment of Smith - I thought he was a punk and I hate him as a person now and forever.

I hated him at first but he actually is a pretty good announcer. you know who hasn't been in the business long but looks like he has is Rich Gannon. I think Rich has done a pretty good job so far, he is very fluid with his analysis. Anyone else agree? Maybe Qb's make the best announcers, it certainly isnt CB's, Rb's or WR's.
HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!

I think he's probably the best in the game.
Pretty much every other announcer on Fox is horrible. I don't know where they find these guys.
The one thing that's funny about Aikman, most of the time you have to pry him to talk about his football playing days. Even during the HOF run, he wouldonly talk about it if directly asked. Furthermore, one thing Redskins fan should appreciate, he wouldn't (at least I don't recall) ever say anything about the whole Irvin situation in the HOF, I remeber him being asked but he would skirt out with a politically correct answer.
Now, the one guy I have to turn down is Phill Simms. Every time I hear him try to say anything remotely intelligent he sounds arrogant and most of the time he has no idea what the heck he is talking about.
I somewhat feel same on Joe Thiesman as I do about Simms, but I won't dwell to far into him.

I can't stand Theisman as an announcer, or Simms or that dope Baldinger.
